(Avalon's pov)

September 5th. It's the day I can't get over, the day my life fell apart but it's worse for someone else. Thoughts flood into my mind as I open my eyes, it's not like I got much sleep but it should suffice for the day. The sun shone right onto my face mockingly as I begrudgingly got out of my bed slowly making my way to the washroom to get ready for the day. I walk out of my room and approach Vera's, I don't know why I'm checking because she won't be in there. I stop at the door, knocking on it lightly you could barely hear it and move forward opening the door.

Empty...

Like I expected... I make my way to the living room to see Eda eating some cereal "When did she leave?" I asked her while trying to make myself something to eat

"I don't know she was gone before I was up, I'm pretty sure we won't see her till tomorrow"

"Figures"

"What about you?"

"What about me?"

"Avalon"

"I'm fine. See if you can find her before classes start, I'm sure she turned off her phone. I'll check after class ends"

"Avalon we have to talk about it"

"Not now im leaving"

"But class doesn't start for another 2 hours"

"I'll head to the library bye"

(Third persons pov)

Before Eda could respond the door slammed shut leaving her in the deafening silence she woke up to, she knew this day was hard for all of them, but the latter would disappear and the former would never talk about it, it's been like this for years but there's nothing she can do all there is to do is wait for the day to end.

A beautiful day like this would usually get Avalon excited to start the day, Vera would be passing sarcastic comments to Eda while she backed one of the two up but for some reason, the sky looked dulled and the lovely chatter of her classmates was tuned out by her earphones, they weren't playing anything but she didn't want to interact with anyone, she didn't have the strength to engage with everyone as she usually did, she knew if she tried she'd snap at some poor soul and they didn't deserve that.

She finally got to the library after what seemed like forever. She roamed the familiar halls and went straight to a certain book, her hand reached for it instinctively as it belonged to her, she clutched it tightly like it would disappear if she didn't.

The librarian had a sad smile playing on her lips as she saw Avalon's familiar figure move towards the book. For the past 2 years, the staff at the library became acquainted with the girl who would walk in every September 5th to read the same book. It was strange but it caused no harm to them so they never questioned it.
