Blizzard in the Desert

16- Knowing who you are.

Karina walked towards the ledge as well, and leaned unto it, but made sure to keep a distance between her and her new guest.

"Do not worry. I have no use in hurting a human woman."

"You shouln't worry either. You don't scare me. After all, wasn't it me that left you frozen in place just some hours ago?"

This made the male turn, and give her an icy cold glare.
Karina didn't even bother to look at him.
She couldn't care less.

"Dont be so proud of yourself wench. You may be capable of stopping a couple of us. But can you stop an entire army?" The male sneered in response.

Karina's anger began to rise. "So much for remaining calm..." She thought.

"Either way, I am not here to harm anyone, elf."  Karina retorted.

"I find that hard to believe. Queen Nuala, may have told us that you and the prince are not a threat, but it does not mean we do not have our eyes on you."

"So you stalked me all the way up here?"

"Don't flatter yourself. Why would I follow a meaningless human?
Like I said, if you were even paying attention, we have our eyes on you. And in case of anything, there is an entire army you would have to face. And we have our own set of mages.
It will take more than your little ice tricks to defeat us.
Plus, with all that ruckus you made by opening the door, anyone would have heard it and come to investigate. Not to mention that you run like a rhinoceros. Void of any grace. Your footsteps were heard from the next kingdom. "

Karina stayed in silence.

"This man is HEARTLESS!!" The female thought.

She was overwhelmed with embarrassment, and she wanted to punch the guy in the face so bad.

"Look." She said after she let out a frustrated sigh. "If you came here to insult me, or belittle me, you might as well save your breath. I dont care what you think of me. If I'm not suppose to be here I can go somewhere else-"

"You can start by leaving our lands." Aelfric retorted. A mean smirk, gracing his features.

"Oh...oh you've done it NOW." Thought Karina. The young woman's head snapped in the direction of Aelfric. Her eyes changed color, and she stomped towards the male.

"Alright, listen here pretty boy!!" She yelled, as her voice seem to change. For it now held a dangerous tune to it.

This certainly caught the male's attention.

"You think you're all high and mighty cause you know how to command a couple of people and swing a sword here and there?
Because you got a pretty face?
Well too bad, because that face is just there for DECORATION!! Who knows, maybe God had pity on you, and said, "geez man, this guys personality is so trashy lets at least give him a cute face!!!"

Aelfric stared in astonishment.
Karina now jabbed a finger in his chest, her aura expanding and making the man start taking some steps back.

"Listen, and listen good, Aelfric." She said, as she emphasised on his name. Taking a deep breath and moving away from him, she continued on with her speech. "I may be human, but it does not mean that I am like the others.

I know what my kind does.
I know how stupid, selfish and arrogant they can be. But that doesn't mean we are all the same.
Nuada, isn't what he use to be.
And whether you want to see the truth to that or not, its entirely your business.
But now, let us say that Nuada was still the same of before. How would you like it if I compared you to him?"

Looking at the male's expression, she knew she had struck a nerve. Thus she continued.

"I apologize, on behalf of my kind. They are ignorant, and they have much to learn. But we are not all the same.
Hence why Nuada is differrent now. I proved that to him.
It...hurts me, to know that humans like me, may be causing you so much trouble for you, but please believe me there are many of us out there trying to make the world a better place.

And yes....I have finally come to know what Nuada did...to his father..."

Now, the woman leaned back on the ledge. Her expression, filled with pain. "He...he had good intentions. I know he did. He wanted to free his people. But he chose the very wrong path, but he is trying to make amends to those wrong decisions.
If he wasnt, his very knowledgeable sister, wouldn't have forgiven him..."
Karina looked back at the gorgeous view. "Even so, me and Nuada have come a long way and I need some time away from him. I care for him. I love him, and if no one is ready to forgive him, I will. It's just that...."

Aelfric stood there, looking at the small female. Compared to him, she was pretty short.

After her outburst, which he must say, she is the only female who had ever spoken to him like that; Aelfric, could see pain in her eyes.
He swore he saw a hint of betrayal.

"She is hurt, because he did not tell her. The prince is a fool. How can he keep such an important information from someone who supposedly is close to him. Even so, after what he did, he doesn't deserve to be loved." The general thought.

"It was still his father.." Karina's voice cracked at the end.

Aelfric, didn't say anything, and just looked away, back at the scenery.

"Anyway, this isn't my point. My point is that, as a supposedly 'wise' creature that you are, you should know better than to judge a book by its cover. I know my people may be stupid thorns in ones side, but no need to be a complete a** about it. Do not compare me to those other things out there, that do not even deserve to be called humans.
People like that, have no humanity. So don't you ever dare compare me to scrubs. Got that pal?''

Karina said, now looking at the male with fierce determination.

The beautiful moonlight now shone upon her being. As another set of wind was picking up, the female took the hair tie out, letting her dark, lovely locks to cascade down her back.
She ran her fingers through her tresses, as the wind picked up her locks, making them float midair.

Right now, it would be hard to think she were human. For she looked like a goddess. Aelfric stared in wonder and enchanted by the girls beauty.

''I am Karina. Not just 'Human'. Not just any human at that. I am me.
Do not forget that humans, unlike many creatures, are the ones that show more emotions. They show more compassion.
At least, does who have a good heart.
We are not perfect beings, just as you are not one yourself. 
If you continue to hold grudges and bitterness, will that ever bring you happiness? Think of that. I will show respect to those who give it to me in turn. So don't think you can just boss me around.

With that said; Karina left.

The male stayed on the tower for some hours more.
And when he was finally done thinking, he smirked.

''Karina...What a beautiful name indeed...''
