Miguel was head over heels in love with Robby, so the moment he heard he and Robby were going to be stepbrothers he was ecstatic about all the time they'd be spending together.

"I'm starting to like you a little bit, but I'm calling the shots." Robby reminded him and Miguel didn't mind one bit. All Robby had to do was say the word and Miguel would never deny him.

"The first is don't even dare embarrass me," Robby warned him.

Miguel nodded, "Can I at least hold your hand?"

Robby just walk away into the skateboard Park. Miguel wasn't exactly the best at skateboarding, so he was wearing roller skates. "Dude, what the fuck? Are those Disney princess shoes." A dirty blonde-haired kid laughed.

Miguel frowned, these were nice-looking shoes. Why should it matter if they had princesses on them?
"Watch your mouth or you'll get punched in it. Go ahead Miguel try to skate." Miguel's heart fluttered as he went to the amateur part of the Park.

Robby kept saying helpful tips and holding his arms to keep him from getting hurt. It felt like he was floating on cloud nine. Once he started to get the hang of it Robby's attention was elsewhere.

With the boy who made fun of his skates. Miguel didn't like this. He skated towards Robby and wrapped his arms around him. "Miguel not now." he pulled away from Miguel.

Like he was no one.

"This is important I need to say something." Robby eventually gave in to the other 13 year old's demand.

Robby took Miguel away from his skater buddies for a little privacy. "What's so important?"

"I don't like you playing with them," Miguel mumbled.

"Seriously that's it? Look I have my friends and you have your-" Robby forgot for a second Miguel had no actual friends. "Just go play."

Before Robby could turn around Miguel grabbed him by the arm and kissed him.

It felt like heaven. Never in a million years, he thought he'd be able to kiss Robby. It was like chewing your favorite bubble gum in the middle of autumn.

This short-lived moment was ended by a push. "WHAT THE FUCK!" Robby yelled.

"What?" Miguel said as if what he did was normal.

"I'm your stepbrother!" Robby yelled.

"Not by blood!"

"Look this never happened. I gotta go."

Miguel watched Robby skate away from him. Back to those assholes. Miguel skated away on a path through the woods.

He sat by a tree and started crying. Why would Robby push Miguel away like that?
Miguel cried till his eyes stung.

Miguel saw the blonde boy sneaking off to smoke a cigarette like it was the 90s or something. The boy who insulted him. The boy who took Robby's attention off Miguel.

Miguel could just leave, but what if that boy tries to talk to Robby. Miguel took one of his skates off and hit the other kid across the head with it. Most everything after it was a blur.

"I can't believe this." Robby was in utter disbelief.

"The skate park being close for a week?" Miguel knew exactly what Robby meant, but didn't want to call attention to himself.

"No, some guy beat a kid with a skate." Miguel got lucky. Apparently, some sex offender lived nearby that took the blame. When the police were searching for a weapon they found some kid-size skates. He confessed so he'd get 60 years instead of life. Miguel of course didn't care. He was scot-free.

"I knew my mom's boyfriend was a monster, but I never thought someone could do that in public. What if it happened to you? It could've easily been you. I'm so sorry for leaving you." Robby held Miguel close as he wept.

"It's okay I still love you, bro."
In all the time Miguel knew Robby he's never seen him cry, but it brought Robby closer to him. That made the blood on his skates worth it.
