"We'll make a lot of mistakes, and it certainly won't be clean, but anything is better than this," Constantine said, looking at the now-aged speedster.
You stood in the spot behind him, It had felt like years had happened, days, more than just a 3-hour nap. You watch the flash nod, before running one last time.
You gasp, your black-filled eyes creaking open. "SHIT!" You curse, coughing out a black substance on your bedsheets. That had been one of the worst visions you had ever had.
You had abilities, like some in the world. You didn't use them for good, or bad. You tried not to use them at all at times, but you had a deep connection with Shadows.
When you slept you'd fall into one, and it would tell a story, a story you didn't choose. Sometimes you saw and did things you didn't want. That whole world occurred somewhere else.
You drag yourself off the bed before looking out the window, your shitty dorm at your boarding school. If your strange shadow-casting sleep paralysis wasn't enough, you felt like a shadow in your daily life.
Girls would walk all over you. You remembered your first friend here. It was right after you were sent to the school, fresh from the police station. A friend of your father's had paid for your full enrollment.
Though your father didn't have friends, not anymore. Not after your mother. His friends now were the Arkham Cafeteria Interns.
Aubrey, she welcomed you to the school.
She helped you pack and even invited you to hers. You have begun to catch feelings. The way she just made you feel, her just talking to you was fulfilling. A little space missing in your heart was stitched up.That's when you two had a sleepover at her dorm, and a few other girls joined. You all decided to play truth or dare. Honestly, you'd play any sick game if she wanted to. She had been dared to style your makeup.
Not that you wore any, you hardly knew the substance. She smiled sweetly and took you to the other room, where she turned the light off and asked you questions. Who you liked, What they looked like, you began to describe her.
Your best friend, your crush. You felt her smile and kiss your neck, before asking if you liked girls. You never told a soul, but you fell for all kinds of people. It felt nice to say those words.
Even though you'd regret them. Her wicked laugh, and her phone. The whole school now knew about your little crush and a few other peeks. They knew your dad was a con.
You feel a suffocating void cover your neck, you wipe it away before walking away from the window. It had nothing to show anyway, Gotham was cold and dark. It was all you ever knew. Maybe that's why you were always so empty.
Constantly looking for a drip. That vision meant something. If Darkseid killed the League in that universe, what's stopping him from doing the same to it again? Superman's return didn't matter.
Perhaps it was just how it was supposed to be. You take a deep breath. Is this how you wanted to die? In some dark dorm room, wallowing in a ball? Aubrey wasn't your first friend.
Perhaps she would just be the last. There was always a voice inside your head, you liked the name C/n. They hated your parents. They hated them for breaking your childhood.
They hated your mom for leaving. They hated your dad for doing the same. They hated Aubrey for that too. They hated the world and everyone in it. They wanted to be free.
