Fear is Poison

"What are you doing?"

Vernon looked over to Dino as the piece of paper on his hand was taken away from him.

"Ooh, is this the invitation?" Dino excitedly asked as he read through the card.

"Yeah, I got it in my mail this morning. You should check yours when you get home," Vernon replied.

"Right, right. I actually need to get going now. It's getting late. I'll see you on Halloween?" Dino grabbed his bag and went for the door.

"Yeah, see you."

Mingyu curiously looked at the card that just arrived in his mail. He found it odd that it didn't say who it was from.

"Halloween Party on October 31 5pm!! 

Food and drinks already provided. 

Venue: Pledis Mansion. 

Theme: Corporate attire." 

"Corporate? What kind of costume is that?" Mingyu thought to himself, "Oh well, at least I won't have trouble looking for what to wear." 

Mingyu took a picture of the invitation and sent it to their group chat. 

Mingyu: Look what I just got in the mail today.

DK: Jokes on you, we all got the invitation, too.

Hoshi: Your theory on being the most popular in the group isn't as accurate as you thought, Mingyu.

Jeonghan: I mean, Dino got invited, too. This whole invitation isn't exactly based on popularity.

Dino: I have feelings, too, you know.

Seungcheol: Is everyone going? I'm only going if you guys are.

Woozi: I'm in.

Wonwoo: Me too.

Minghao: I'm going. I'll drag Jun with me.

Seungcheol: And Mingyu?

Mingyu: Yeah, I'll be there. I'll just hitch a ride with Wonu.

Mingyu locks his phone and rummages through his closet to look for something to wear. He finds a gray pinstripe suit with a matching white under polo and a brown tie. 

He finds it odd that there's not a single trace of dust when he hasn't worn it since his first job application. 

"I guess I'm all set."

Mingyu almost drops his phone when he hears Wonwoo's car honking loudly from outside.

"I'm coming, I'm coming! Sheesh," he says as he takes one last look in the mirror and heads to the door.

"Impatient much?" Mingyu teases as he gets into the passenger seat.

"I told you I'd be here at 4:30 sharp," Wonwoo smiles at him and puts Mingyu's seatbelt on for him, "safety first."

The car starts moving as a song plays on the radio.

"Hey, that sounds familiar, what song is that?" Mingyu asks.

"Fear," Wonwoo answers, "the radio DJ said it was just released today."

"Oh. I guess it's not that familiar then," Mingyu turns to the window and looks up at the sky, "man, the clouds are way too dark today. I'm pretty sure it's going to rain. Should I have brought an umbrella?"

"What, you're scared of a little rain now?" Wonwoo chuckles, " it'll probably clear up later, don't worry about it."

Mingyu and Wonwoo arrive at the Pledis Mansion and head inside. They followed the signs hung up in the long corridors until they reached a glass door that led to a spacious hall.They found that the rest of the group were already there and making themselves comfortable on the couches.
