Somehow, Sanemi found himself wandering back to the pond from before, Genya in tow.

Genya had told Sanemi he wanted to properly thank Giyuu and that he wouldn't take no for an answer.

"I don't even know if he normally comes here, so don't fucking expect anything. This is just where I saw him yesterday."

"I already said it's fine if he's not there. I just wanna thank him at some point." Genya huffed. Sanemi rolled his eyes and continued walking in silence.

Upon reaching their destination, they saw a head of black hair with a head of bright pink next to it. The bright pink head turned first and saw them coming down the path.

"Shinazugawa! Hi! What are you doing here? Who's that with you?" Mitsuri ran up to them. Genya smiled nervously as she approached and directed her questions at him.

"Man, you're tall! What year are you? Are you and Shinazugawa related? You look really similar! Why are you here?" Mitsuri turned to Sanemi, awaiting answers.

"He's my brother, Pinky."

"Oh, that makes sense! But why are you guys here?"

Sanemi nodded to Genya, who's eyes widened at the prospect of speaking to a girl he'd just met.

"Oh, um... I wanted to thank Tomioka-san for something."

"If that's the case, then he's right over there." she smiled brightly and pointed off in Giyuu's direction. Sanemi's gaze flicked over for a second.

Giyuu sat there, staring right at Genya and Mitsuri with an unreadable expression on his face, most of which was obscured by his hair. Sanemi sucked in a breath and looked down at the ground.

Mitsuri dragged Genya over to where Giyuu was sitting. Giyuu's body turned fully and he smiled up at Genya.

Fucking smiled.

Sanemi's heart skipped a beat. He turned his face away as red crept up his cheeks and spread to his ears. He hardly even noticed as Mitsuri snuck up next to him and led him over to where his brother and Giyuu were talking.

Giyuu seemed to be reassuring Genya that helping him was no problem at all and that he didn't need to worry. The former reached his hand out and patted Genya on the head. Mitsuri squealed and pulled the taller of the two by the arm.

"You're so cute! Like a big teddy bear! Do you wanna go get some food with me? Come on!" she wrangled Genya on to her shoulders. He looked mildly surprised before he broke into a wide smile and let himself be carried off.

Sanemi shook his head and sat down next to Giyuu. Giyuu had his head turned, his eyes narrowed slightly..

"Aren't you gonna go with him?"

"Seems like he's having plenty of fun without me." That came out more rude than intended.

Giyuu went silent and the two sat in uncomfortable silence. Sanemi racked his brain for any conversation topic at all.

"So, how do you know that Kamado kid? The one from yesterday."

"He's like my brother. I stayed with his adoptive father before I came here."

"Adoptive?"

"Yeah, his family got into a pretty bad accident. Nezuko was the only one who made it out alive. Urokodaki adopted them."
