Begin Again

Chapter 13

Gigi's POV:

After leaving Joe in the cafe I head straight to my mother's house. I start looking for her as soon as I enter the foyer where everything is in gray and white except the black staircase, and there's a huge beautiful chandelier hanging from the high ceiling complementing the luxurious entrance.

"WHERE'S MY MOM?" I ask one of the house helpers.

"She's up in her room."

I run up the stairs to my mom's room in the third floor. When I get to it I find her talking to one of her friends on the phone,

"MOM!!" I call her in a high-pitched voice standing on the doorstep, she responds with a furious look and keeps on talking on the phone.

"I need to talk to you now!" I cross my arms waiting for her to get off the phone. Once she does I walk inside the room and shut the door,

"I'll break up with Joe!" my mom sighs and looks at me with a fed up expression.

"Not that damn conversation again Gigi..."

"I will mom, I can't stand being with that guy anymore!! And when you know the reason this time you won't ask me to bear this relationship again."

"Ok then..I'll listen to everything you have to say but first, please tell me you didn't open up about this break up thing with him during your date, did you?"

"No I didn't."

"Great! Now tell me that the reason isn't Mayer again."

"John has nothing to do with it, it's all about Joe. His family has cut him off! And he isn't planning on reaching out to them for the rest of his life."

"What are you saying?! How is that? I told you Elizabeth has been trying to reach out to him through us for a month now, she wants him to go back to the house. Didn't I ask you to tell him that?"

"Oh you know nothing mom, Joe was the reason behind Patrick's accident." I say in a kind of triumph, and ignore her last question.

My mom gasps looking at me in disbelief. I tell her everything Joe told me from the accident to what his dad told him in the hospital. I made sure not to let Joe know that his mother is looking for him after he told me about the accident, cause I was afraid it would fix everything between them, and then I'll lose the only chance I've to leave him and be with John.

"I promise you Joe isn't part of the Alwyns anymore. And even if he tried to rectify things, you know uncle Richard won't give him the chance to. He has always seen Joe as a black sheep and they were never on good terms, he didn't even let Joe complete his degree. So now, I don't see a single reason why you would force me into this relationship for longer. Joe has literally lost everything!"

My mom sighs then stays quiet for few minutes, "Gigi just wait for some more time."

"NOO!!" I shout on top of my lungs.

"I want what's best for you!! I'm saying just wait for a couple more months, if things stay the same between Joe and his parents then leave him."

"FOR GOD'S SAKE I'VE GOTTEN ENOUGH OF THIS RELATIONSHIP! I'M IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE ELSE!!"

"Jelena would you please calm down?! Chances like these come only few times in life, you can't leave someone like Joseph for a person who can't afford buying you a ring! And I won't let you take such immature decisions," she pauses, "you need to realise that your actions affect our entire family, not just you. So please don't be selfish, and just stay nice to Joseph until we see what will happen later. Maybe I'd manage to fix things between him and his parents."
