Quest to the Edge of Space

Chapter 1: The IPCU

My name is Dorian Whit and I'm what's known as a "Star Bandit", Star Bandits are people who travel space like anyone else but do it with intentions to steal and kill, like a normal bandit. I live aboard a stolen ship called "The White Falcon", me and my companions, Tass and Lhea, stole the ship when escaping from an IPCU outpost, but that's a story for another day.

10am, just woke up and started my usual routine: get dressed, feed the weird alien plant thing I found on some random planet, brush my teeth, take a shit, make a coffee, then head to the control room where my companions  are.

Dorian: "Hey gu-"

Tass: "Ah! good, you're awake"

Lhea: "we're being chased buy a fleet of IPCU ships right now, including the flagship.. well that's what Tass says is happening"

Dorian: "What?!?!?, why would they be after us?"

Tass: "we aren't sure but from what i can tell they're trying to gain access to our communications, I've kept them out for now but its difficult, their programming style is unlike any I've seen before"

Dorian: "i see.. let them access the coms, they might tell us why they're after us"

Tass: "well alright, if you say so, patching them through now"

IPCU Commander: "Dorian Whit, you are piloting a stolen ship, stop the thrusters so we can board"

Dorian: "well first of all I know its a stolen ship genius, secondly so I will not stop the thrusters and thirdly, you didn't even say please.. Lhea! ready the guns!"

Lhea: "Dorian I'm blind, I cant even see where you are, do you expect me to shoot guns at something I cant see?"

Dorian: "right yes, i keep forgetting.. Tass! you get the guns and ill drive this thing"

Tass: "you've never driven this before, you sure you can handle it?"

Dorian: "yes yes whatever, go man the guns already!"

Tass: "fine, you better not crash this thing"

Ill be honest with you, I had no idea how to drive this ship at all but I was determined enough that I managed it like I was an expert, but we were running out of options as there was an alpha meteor storm up ahead and I was not about to drive into it.

Dorian: "Lhea! there's an alpha meteor storm in front of us, you're the ideas person, so any ideas?"

Lhea: "we could get close to it then activate the ships cloaking system to go invisible, then maybe the IPCU will think we've flown into it and attempt to follow and crash?"

Dorian: "that's too risky, with all of the different technology the IPCU has they're bound to be able to detect invisible ships, especially if its a ship that belongs to the IPCU"

Tass: "phew, I barely made it out"

Dorian: "Tass! what's the status on they're ships now?"

around 15 to 20 minutes had passed before Tass came rushing back exhausted

Tass: "I shot down 4 of the 10 that they had but the flagship destroyed the guns, I was lucky that I got out of there in time"

Dorian: "ah fuck, we're gonna have to board the ships and take them out from the inside, but there's an alpha meteor storm approaching so that may be difficult"

Tass: "right well let me take the wheel then and ill figure something out"

Dorian: "fine, i also just got an idea, Lhea, you're going to summon one of your Millennium Explosions on the left-most ship when I give the signal. Tass, get as close as you can to the alpha meteor storm without going into it, then turn a hard right and activate the blue-flame thrusters"

Lhea: "alright, ill try and get into position and wait for your signal"

Tass: "you got it Dorian, ill be ready, but I have been wanting to ask you something: why not just turn yourself in? surely being in prison for a few years wont be THAT bad right?"

Dorian: "... because I'm trying to get to the Edge.."

Tass: "the Edge? the hell is that?" 

Dorian: "the "Edge" is the name given to the farthest part of explored space, and at the current Edge lies a prison for notorious thieves, murderers and the universes most dangerous criminals..  but more importantly.. my mother"

sry for so much dialogue xd I just needed to get the story going lol, hopefully future chapters will be much longer and also wont have much dialogue :)
