The setting sun danced its beautiful color palette around us as we stood on the dock. The purples and pinks stretched across the calm ocean water like paint spilled over a canvas. The wind quietly whispered songs in our ears. It had been awhile since I had been to a beach before and boy, was it stunning.

My eyes scanned the ripples in the water. I explored each current and pictured the wonderful things that may be below.

Gumball stood next to me; leaning against the railing that looked so unstable it made me nauseous. He smiled as he looked out at the waves. I found it captivating at the least. I couldn't help but bite my lip.

"Hey, Bubba?" I asked shyly. His head turned toward mine and his dorky smile faced me directly.

"Yes?" he replied simply. A lump in my throat began to form and it felt like I was drowning even though I wasn't touching the water.

"I uh... Do you... I mean, do you mind if-" I floundered. He just laughed and I felt my cheeks heat up.

"Come on Marsh, you can say it," He edged. I inhaled sharply and exhaled with less enthusiasm. It soon turned into more of a sigh as I clutched my jacket.

"Are you cold?" I stared at the water and felt the salty air wisp across my face. Bubba's expression turned into an uncomfortable one.

"I guess so," he shrugged softly. I puffed up my cheeks and shook my jacket off quickly. With the small amount of courage I had within me, I draped it over Gumball's shoulders. "Thanks," he said flatly. I nodded and looked back out at the water. Now I was cold.

"Hey, Bubba?" I repeated.

"Yes, Marshall?" the boy didn't even glance.

"I- never mind," I murmured. My heart was pounding a billion times a second and there was nothing I could do to stop it. The boy only a few inches away from me held my heart in his hands; even though he wasn't even aware of it.

I gently wrapped my arms around myself and leaned up against the swaying railing. I breathed heavy and looked down at the water. The sun was nearly covered in a deep blue now. My eyes darted over toward Gumball. He was holding my jacket tightly around his body with a slight smile curling at the edges of his mouth. My cheeks inflamed a rosy color and my body became hot. If only I could jump in that cold water so I didn't need to burn up like this. Sweat began to gently drip down my facial features.

"Is it not to you? I'm hot. It's hot," I panted as I removed my shirt. My heart pounded as I used it to wipe the sweat from my forehead.

"Marsh?" Gumball raised an eyebrow at me. "It's freezing. Put your shirt on," he sighed.

"S-sorry. I'm burning here,"

"Oh don't be ridiculous," Bubba groaned and shoved my shirt over my head. Before I knew it I was a tangled mess of fabric and arms. A small giggle soared from Gumball's mouth.

"Hey! Don't laugh at me!" I whined.

"Oh Mr. Abadeer?" Gumball purred.

"What?" I replied, annoyed. A cold hand grazed my stomach and chest softly.

"Nice abs." He chuckled. My eyes widened and I blushed furiously for the millionth time that day. Soon enough, I regained my confidence.

"Excuse me? What have you done with the real Gumball?" I smirked and decided to lose the fight of putting my shirt on. Gumball seemed to enjoy it. He was so close to me now. Our bodies practically glued together.

"Oh, I haven't gone anywhere Marshy~," There was that nickname. I wrapped my arms around his waist and slid my fingers in the belt loops of his pants.

"What a sudden burst of self confidence, hm?" I grinned at the boy. He just stuck his tongue out and set his hands on my chest, going over each line carefully.

"You bring out the worst in me..." He grunted, shoving his body against mine and staring into my eyes.

"Should that be a good thing?" I questioned as my stomach turned with anticipation.

"You tell me," Bubba let his hands roam around my chest and near the waistline of my jeans. Letting out small moans as he gently pushed himself up against me. Holy shit. I held my breath, trying to contain any sounds that might make the boy even more, excited.

"Mm... Marshall..?" He sighed. I bit my lip as he rested his hands on my hips.

"B-bubba?"

"I need you," and that was enough for me to gently push him back. The boy looked startled and embarrassed.

"S-sorry... I can't." I swallowed. Gumball sighed and scratched the back of his head.

"I'm kind of an idiot aren't I?"

"Not at all." I smiled and kissed his cheek. "You're just a dork." He smiled and hugged me tightly.

"Sorry again..."

"Don't worry about it Bubs.~"
