(A/N Okay so this was written when I had little to no idea about how the Doctor's life on Gallifrey worked, so forgive the horrid inaccuracy. Leaving it up because I'm still fairly proud of how this was written.)

The little boy ran, as fast and far as he could. The warm

wind pushed him along, tall red grass flicking playfully,

tickling his sides, making him laugh. He looked up at the

burnt orange sky, the two suns shining brightly, the second

still slightly in the south as midday had yet to pass. He

breathed in deeply the scent of the wild fields, and the

faint perfume of daisies in the forest's edges, laughing

out loud again at the freedom of it. Father and Mother were

working, and he didn't join the Academy for another month,

so in this time, he was allowed to run as he pleased over

the sweeping hills and fields, all across his family's

estate and the next.

"Come on! You're falling behind me!" he shouted gleefully

at a smaller round-faced boy, in his looping, lyrical

native tongue. The boy stuck out his tongue and called

back, "I'm tired! I can't run anymore just yet. Let's lay

down, just for a while."

So they did, sided by side in the red grass, watching the

suns and the copper colored moon, telling each other

stories about where they would go if they could travel to

all of the places they had been told stories of.

The first boy sighed, a curious gleam coming into his eyes.

"I think I'd like to go to Earth one day." The second boy

grimaced. "Earth? The one filled with little ape things

that look like us a bit, but with only one heart and

extremely violent? Why would anyone go there?"

"Well, I want to see them. I've heard that those 'little

ape things' aren't all that bad. In fact," the first boy

rolled over and grinned wildly at the other, "I think they

could be quite good. Find the right ones, befriend them,

show them the stars and see how they like them. Wouldn't it

be amazing to see?" The second boy shrugged, and stood,

offering the first a hand up. "No more talk of far off

places. Let's get back to the fun things!" The first

accepted the hand, stood, and grinned excitedly at the

shorter boy. He whispered his favorite word to him. "Run!"
