My Birthday

I think my sister's boyfriend is a serial killer. No, no. I don't think. I know. I've seen him with my own eyes. First of all, what you should know, is that my name is Sabrina. I have an older sister, Kayleigh, but I call her Kay. Ever since we were kids, we have been very close together. And I mean very close. We used to tell each other everything and we used to do everything together. We were the definition of inseparable. She has had a boyfriend for three years. His name is Darren. Darren and I barely got to talk over the years, but he liked my sister, and Kay was head over heels for him, so I thought everything was fine. Until it was not.

Everything started on my birthday. I can remember everything like it happened yesterday because it did. The day was 16 July. It was my 16 birthday. My parents decided to throw me a huge sweet sixteen birthday party. Everyone I knew was invited, even Darren. Of course, he was. My sister wouldn't go anywhere without him, and I needed her there. I needed my best friend. The other people were my parents, my other close friends, and of course my boyfriend. The first people who came were Bailey and her girlfriend. We used to go way back, since kindergarten, and since then we have been close. Her dad died when she was around 4, and her mom wasn't the best mom for her. She was abusive, and there were times when she would let Bailey starve for long periods of time. That's why she was most of the time at our house. We grew up together, and my mom considered her as "The other daughter I never had". After Kay, she was the closest person to me, and the first person I would lose.

After about 10 minutes, everyone had come. It seemed like they were enjoying themselves, so I went inside the house to relax for a little. From the kitchen, I saw Darren with a girl in the backyard. A girl which wasn't my sister. But wait. It looked like she was getting forced to go with him. He had caught her arm and was pulling her. No matter how much she tried to get away, she couldn't. For a moment she turned. I recognized that face. It was Bailey. I panicked. And I rushed out. I rushed to go find Bailey or Darren or anyone. The room started spinning. Maybe I was hallucinating, from all the alcohol in the drinks. Maybe. Maybe they weren't really out there. Maybe. Maybe it was all my imagination. Maybe. All I knew was that when I woke up on the sofa my head hurt. A lot. Everyone was gathered around me. I saw my sister and my parents near my head, and as I got up slowly, I saw Darren standing there too. I didn't see Bailey or her girlfriend anywhere, but I just figured they left. Kayleigh explained that I fainted, probably from the alcohol and that they found me laying on the floor after a while. But something felt different. Something felt wrong. I had this gut feeling telling me that that wasn't the whole story. I kind of just blamed everything on the alcohol and let it slide. After apologizing for shutting the party off early, because I didn't feel quite good, I went up to my room and tried to sleep. I couldn't. I turned around many times. My head was still spinning and I had a horrible headache. I tried my hardest to sleep. And it worked.

I woke up the next morning with the biggest headache I had ever had. Someone had left a pill for my head and a glass of water. "Thank you, Kay. You're the best.", I yelled. But she wasn't there. I called Bailey to see if she arrived home safely last night and if we were still on for today to go shopping. She didn't pick up. I didn't think much of it until I called her mom, who said she hadn't come home yesterday. This is the part where I started freaking out. Could it be real? What I saw yesterday? But that wouldn't make sense. At all.
