(A/N) Alright, so I'm just jumping straight into the story! Everything will make sense by the end of the book, I promise.:)
(Amber's Pov)
"Amber? Are you sleeping? I want food!" Mary, my 'Mom' asked me for about the millionth time at the doorway to my bedroom. Thankfully since I actually lived here because I was adopted by her when I was 5, I got my own room. I would probably die sharing a room with 9 little girls. I'm just glad that the girls and boys have separate rooms, who knows what goes through the minds of kids who are under 10 years old? Yeah, my 'Mom' likes the younger kids, but she doesn't give a shit on what happens to them or me, so I basically have to cook, clean, and do everything else you can imagine for 9 girls and 7 boys..Fun, right? Nope.
Not to gloat or anything but, if it wasn't for me the children would have been taken away by the child care services already, but obviously my Mom doesn't realize this and still treats me like I'm nothing. Maybe that's why I'm so rebellious.
Just my luck, she sighed and shut the door behind her as she left. I heard her footsteps all the way to her room on the other side of the foster-care home for the children that got abandoned by their heartless parents who obviously don't give a shit but weren't put up for adoption.
As soon as I heard her door quietly shut, I popped out of bed and began fixing my hair and outfit, careful to not wake up the other girls in the room next-door as I swiftly sped around the room, gathering my purse that had all my belongings in it to complete my outfit for some random person's party.
About 10 seconds later, I was ready. I sighed as I sat on my uncomfortable queen-sized bed, waiting to hear Mary's snores as I fiddled with my thumbs, always getting nervous about the whole 'sneaking out the window' concept. I was pretty clumsy, and if I made a noise I'd be sure to get grounded and under close supervision for the rest of my life, which will be forever.
Finally, I heard her obnoxious snores as I was swiftly out the window without making a sound. My room may have been on the fourth floor of the house, but I still landed swiftly on my feet without making a sound, and it didn't hurt at all. The advantages of being a vampire are awesome. Yes, Vampire. As in Twilight Vampire. Except without all the drama and stuff, but yes, I do have enhanced human senses and a special power, which you'll find out what that is later. Yes, I do also have fangs, which come out when I'm pissed, so it's hard hiding my fangs from my 'Mom' 99% of the time I'm around her.
I swiftly ran to the party, thankfully I could run way faster than the average human so instead of it taking me 30 minutes, it'll only take me 10 minutes at the most.
I arrived at the party, running a finger through my hair to fix it somewhat after running.
"Hey Amber! Over here!" I heard a guy named Rick? Ryan? Rover? I don't remember, it started with an 'R', call me over to a log-seat by a giant campfire.
"Heyyyy...There." I said awkwardly, not wanting to call him the wrong name. That's just rude.
