"Would a Mr. Apollo Justice please take the stand?" the attorney suggested.

A very confused Apollo made his way up to the witness bench. "I don't see what I have to do with this case, Mr. Terran. I'm Apollo Justice, astronaut in training at the GYAXA space center." Clay shot him a glare from the defense bench.

Clay's mentor, Starbuck, looked over to him. "Why are you calling Mr. Justice to the stand?"

"You'll find out in a second," he responded, turning to the judge. "Your honor, may I request Mr. Justice here to assist at the defense bench. I'll keep an eye on him."

The judge seemed to ponder for a moment. "Well, I don't see why you couldn't if you do promise to keep your eye on him."

The prosecution interjected, "Objection! Your honor, what purpose does an astronaut have in a court of law?!"

"We've had stranger co-counsels in this court, Mr. Payne."

"But forensics make more sense than-"

"No buts, Gaspen! They were a teenager. Need I remind you of the kind pianist boy as well?"

       Payne grumbled. "No, your honor."

Starbuck shared an amused look with his protege. "Already angering Mr. Payne now, are you?"

"He can handle himself. He's been in this job longer than I have."

Solomon sighed. "I would certainly hope so. This is your first case. Normally the prosecution calls up the first witness."

Clay removed his visor and ran a hand through his hair. "I know, but this is important. Trust me, alright, Mr. Starbuck? We're going to want 'Pollo's help any chance we can get." He thought to himself, "Until I get as good at noticing nervousness like 'Pollo, we're as good as gone with these witnesses. My client won't even talk to me!"

Apollo shortly joined the two behind the bench. "Are you sure you want me here, Clay? I'm already offering moral support in the gallery." He stood on the other side of Clay.

"Yes, I'm sure. I have a feeling somebody's gonna be keeping something from us."

"Another one of your so-called 'Clay Conclusions'?" Apollo asked, putting air quotes around "Clay Conclusions".

"Hey! It's still a working title, but yeah. I don't know what it is, but something doesn't seem right. There's no way Ms. Cykes could've done it, yet I don't trust that monkey man over there to go down without a fight."

"If you say so... You're absolutely sure you trust Metis? It's been seven years since she was a lawyer, Clay."

Starbuck interrupted, "Even after her disbarment, she was still a close friend of mine. She's just gotten more quiet than usual."

"If she's your friend, why aren't you defending her instead of Clay? He's still only a rookie. No offense."

Clay held up his hands. "None taken."

"Ms. Cykes specifically asked for Clay here to defend her." Apollo looked back to Clay. Clay just shrugged. He didn't know why either. "I did originally offer to, but she insisted it had to be Clay."

Payne was glaring over at them. "Are you three done yet?"

"Shu- Yes, we are. The defense is ready to proceed, your honor," Clay replied.
