Fated or Mated? (SEMI-PERMENANT HIATUS)

Prologue

Aisling

The rain beat down on my back, soaking my fur completely, as I sprinted through the forest. The other wolf chasing me was gaining on me and I couldn't allow her to catch me. I knew she was faster so my main focus was maneuvering through the damp woods.

I leaped over a fallen tree and zig-zagged through the forest, my breathing became labored and I knew I couldn't keep running for long. The lake was only a quarter of a mile away, my salvation was so close. Despite being hyper focused on my objective, I felt my front paw hook around a protruding root, bringing me down. I rolled twice before falling flat on my back, in human form.

How the f-ck did I not see that? I'm a damn moron. I thought.

Before I could stand, the heavy body of the predator chasing me jumped on top of me, pinning both of my arms to the ground with her massive paws. She let out a low growl before shifting back into human form herself, her emerald green eyes piercing my own with an intensity rivaled by none. A slight smirk played across her lips and her ginger hair hung loosely, tickling my face lightly.

"Almost made it this time, Klutz." Alexis said. The casual smirk never left her lips as she leaned down to meet my own. The familiar butterflies fluttered in my stomach as I moved to deepen the kiss. I nibbled at her bottom lip, begging for entrance, but instead, she pulled away. My wolf let out an involuntary whine and I pouted.

"Babe, no. We aren't having sex right now. Your father called an emergency pack meeting. Didn't you hear it over the mind link?"

"I'm the Alphas daughter and the Luna of our pack. Of course I heard it, I'm just ignoring it. F-ck him." I snapped at her.

Anyone else would have cowered from my tone, but she was next in line to be Beta. Luna if I had a say in it. "Baby, you know he supports our relationship, he just doesn't want us to get hurt when we turn 18 and realize we aren't mates."

"That's the thing, I may not be 18 yet but I know you are my mate. I don't care what the elders say. I love you and in two years, we will be mates, I promise." I said, in a matter-of-fact tone.

Alexis rolled her eyes, "I love you too, Ash, but you and I both know there has never been a same sex pairing of mates. It doesn't happen. Mates are specifically for procreation. Continuing the pack. Last I checked, you don't have a penis."

"You mean, last you 'licked'?" I asked teasingly, raising an eyebrow.

She laughed but still managed to shoot me a glare as she pulled herself up and released me from her grip. "Seriously, come on, babe. He wouldn't have called a sudden meeting if it wasn't important."

I sighed before standing up and shifting to my wolf form, since my dad got frustrated when I showed up in human form.

Come on then, I said through our mind link. She shifted and we both ran back to our pack den at a slower pace then when I was running from her. Neither of us in a hurry to see the man who is the biggest obstacle of our relationship. I don't care what dad and the Elders say, Alexis is my mate, and even if we had to go rogue to do it, we would be together eventually. Pack be damned, I won't be separated from her.
