Love?Or Friendship?
How do we cross the line from admiring a person all your life to loving their every action?
A single touch, smile, or glance can make a painful headache simply disappear. An unscaled adoration for your childhood friend. Yet, you don't understand why you feel this way.
As you grew with them, you noticed how they attach themselves to you, how they study art books with you, and how they rely on you. Is it just a simple cute action they do or is it just routine? Your heart always beating faster when they hold your hand.
But liking them would be wrong.
Especially from a friend...
Sol
Brrr, brrrr,
My phone vibrated on my work desk. I paused my clay structuring project to view who it was calling me. I wiped my hands briefly on my apron. The smudges would be a pain to clean later but I didn't mind it for now.
I held the phone screen a few inches away from my face. A cute brown puppy as the contact picture and the name I smiled at. 'Seo Ji-wan' it read. I answered the call before the ring could end.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Sol!" Jiwan practically screamed in my ear. I smiled either way knowing that she was excited about something.
"What's up?" I switched the phone to my shoulder as I focused on my sculpture again.
"Bit-Na is gathering students for a get-together. I was wondering if you wanted to go with me? It would be fine if you don't want to come"
I thought for a while before agreeing to go with her.
I didn't enjoy going every night to drink with friends, but this was going to be a one-time occurrence, at least that's what I thought.
"Really? You're going to go with me?" She asked. It was almost like she was a bit disappointed that I was going to go with her. I didn't mind it for now.
"Yeah, you asked me to go with you. So I will" I smiled as I continued to mold the clay with the phone still stable on my shoulder.
"Alright then! I'll text you the place and details okay!"
"Okay I'll see you there, Jiwan"
We said our goodbyes.
~ 2 hours later ~
We arrived at the place a few minutes late. I could blame it was because of Jiwan, but I didn't say anything. As I walked in, several students greeted us. Some I remember from our sculpture class, and some I didn't recognize at all.
Since Jiwan and I were late, seats have been filled already. I spotted two empty seats at on end of the table and dragged Jiwan to sit next to me. The three tables were lined up to make sure there was no separation between the college students.
There were drinks of soju and empty glasses that were filled with water. Very little food was passed around. And my classmate, Se-hun, wouldn't stop talking to Jiwan and me. I was slightly annoyed by him, but I could tell he was just trying to be friendly. I overheard a comment from the middle part of the table. I located where it came from. It was one of the guys that were epically annoying to deal with at school. They kept ruining the mood with uncomfortable comments to Nabi.
