"Good Morning, Y/N" my mother said as I walked down the stairs into the eating room. "How are you doing this morning?" I was about to answer when she cut me off. "Well, it's about to get better. The All father is hosting a ball and invited us. Us! Of all people in Asgard he invited us! How does he even know who we are?"

"Wasn't father a guard for the king? and from my understanding we are quiet a rich and respected family." I stated.

"Well, I suppose we are, but we haven't been out in that part of society in nearly fifteen years sense your father died." She remarked.

We stood in silence for a minute. "Please, let's take a seat. All this standing is hurting my feet." My mother announced. "I'll have a servant bring out a small breakfast for us, hmm?" She questioned.

"Yes, that sounds good. Oh, maybe some fruit. That sounds wonderful this morning." I smiled.

~~~
"That fruit was delightful!" I exclaimed to my mother.
"Yes, it was most certainly the sweetest fruit in the whole kingdom."
There was a book lying on the table in front of me. "Guarding and How To Do It" it read, a thick layer of dust covering it. It was my fathers book. We never touched it. That book had been there as long as I can remember.
Next to it was the book I was currently reading. I've read it about a million times. My mother gave it to me. It was a pocket sized version of one of my favorite Midgardian books, "Pride and Prejudice". It was the only Midgardian book I have every read. My mother told me my father stole the original from the castle library and gave it to my mother as a present. Little did he know she didn't know how to read. She tells me he taught her to read with that book.
 That book is now back in the library in the castle, but before my father passed he copied the book down in this little journal for me to read when I got older. In the back it says "The original copy of this book in the castle library, may one day you are able to read it too. Love, Papa".
I picked up my book and began heading up to my bedroom.
"We will be leaving the house at seven o'clock this evening. I expect you in your finest dress. I like that light teal one on you, incase you didn't know." She said before I went too far.
"Yes, mother"
"Oh, and where your finest gold necklace. We wouldn't want to look like the poorest in the castle." She added.
"Yes, mother" I replied. All I wanted to do was go read in the garden.
I stood there for a moment, making sure she wasn't going to add anything. When she didn't I continued my way up the stairs to my room.
My room wasn't the largest nor was it the smallest. It was a decent size. Large bed, attached and personal bathroom, beautiful windows that looked out to the fields of Asgard. It was a stunning view.
I never understood how my parents were able to afford this house when they were so young. They weren't royalty or well known merchants of any kind. Who knows? Maybe my father wasn't a guard and he was something else. I wouldn't know and I dare not ask. My mother never wanted to talk about money. The only thing about money in our family I knew was whatever money mother and I made was what we got to spend.
I changed my clothes and put on a summer dress that was very comfortable. I picked up a few books and left my Midgardian one and was on my way to the garden.
~~~

I was in the garden for hours. I skipped lunch and didn't even realize it.

I heard my mother yelling at me from her balcony at me to go get ready. "Y/N! What are you doing? Why haven't you gotten ready?"

I got up and rushed over to her. " Sorry, I must have lost track of time." I yelled up at her.

"Well then, go get ready." She snipped at me.

"well then, blah blah blah" I mumbled, walking inside and up to my room.

I quickly got changed and brushed through my hair to get any knots out. I placed my most darling golden necklace around my neck. I paired it with a golden wrist watch. As I was putting it on I realized it was seven o'clock already.

I grabbed my pocket sized book and put it in my pocket.

Though this wasn't the dress my mother said to wear it was my favorite. It was all black with gold trim in a few places. It was an open back, which my mother didn't enjoy on me, but it was too late for her to force me to change. I'm not sure why my mother didn't like the dress it was very in style. Floor length, open back, pockets, solid color with gold trim, and it was even layered with lace.

I looked my self in the mirror once more and spritzed myself with my favorite scented perfume before  heading out the door.
