Prologue
I was running. Running as far as I can. I can’t stand what was happening. I’m only 17. How can my parents die? I don’t get it? I have a little baby brother who is only 2 and a little sister who is only 9. I can’t believe they would just leave us like this. Now we have to go to an orphanage and wait till I turn 18 to be able to move with my siblings and make it on our own. How can I do that? I have to find a job or two, a house or an apartment, and have to be able to put my sister and brother in school. I don’t think I can do that.
I am running through the forest, scared and sad, not able to breath, but I keep running. As I run I can hear people following me calling out my name and telling me to stop, but I didn’t. Soon I came upon my favorite lake. I go to a tall dark tree and slide down letting my dark long brown hair fall all over my face while I huge myself tightly remembering what happened just 10 minutes ago.
My siblings Jake and Lucy and I were all in the living room dancing to ‘airplanes’ by B.O.B... All of a sudden there came a loud knock on our door. I told Jake and Lucy to go sit on the couch while I go and answer the door. When I got to the door and opened it to find two officers waiting.
‘’May I help you officer?’’ I asked.
‘’Are you Maeve brown?’’ the officer on my lift asked me.
“Yes I am, may I ask why you’re here?” why are they here?
“I'm sorry to tell you miss. Maeve but about 2 hours ago there was a huge car wreak and your parents were right in the middle of it. I m sorry to tell you that they did not make it. But please concitter…” that’s all I heard before I zoomed out. How cant they be gone? How did this happen? i ran to the forest not thinking to where I'm going.. not even caring.
As I'm sitting on the forest floor I start to feel really light headed. But before I'm able to do anything about it I hear a branch break right in front of me, but I'm not scared i know I'm safe in here. I look off to the Right and there he is. My wolf. every time I go into the woods toward the lake a wold shows up. Ive never been scared of him if anything i feel a lot safer with him near me.
"hello Wolf. Come here i need a hug." i smile as i hold out my hand for him t understand i am summoning him. He walks over slowly and when he gets near me i wrap my arms around him and start balling my eyes out. All he does is sits and leans his head into me.
I slowly walk back to my house knowing that i need to tell my sister and brother the news. hopefully we can stay there because I'll be turning 18 in just a month and a half. Also its the middle of the school year for all of us.
Once i get back to the house i see that the cops are there with my little sister and brother but also my aunt and uncle are there and i havnt seen them since my sister was born. i knew they were my god parents but they live up in Organ.
"Oh Maeve. My baby Maeve. how are you my dear?" my aunt Silvia asks as she rushes over to me and hugs me deeply. i couldnt help it. i broke down again. i feel to my knees and and Lucy run over and hug my while crying.
"im soo sorry. im soo sorry." i keep repeating over and over to them.
