Chapter 38: Red Velvet

Three months after...

"Girl, have you heard about the news?" Nakakapit sa akin si Lauren while we're strolling around the mall. Nilingon ko siya at nakita ang simangot niyang mukha. "Blaze and Ash, mukhang nagkabalikan na sila." I smiled and just nodded reluctantly.

It has been three months since that incident happened. Katatapos lang din ng sem namin at hinihintay na lang ang pag-release ng cards. Naka-prepare na rin ang gamit namin to leave. And since that day, Blaze and I cut off our connections.

Uh, did I address it right?

Hindi naman sa cinut off ang connection. I think we just normalized living, barely seeing each other on the wide campus.

Or baka siya lang?

Kasi since the day I fell in love with him, I realized that living a normal life without him isn't possible anymore. Sobrang hirap umiwas, pero mas mahirap ang huwag siyang pansinin kahit nakita ko naman siya.

After that incident, I almost shouted his name and hugged him like what I used to do before. But I think I caused him too much pain that he just ignored me.

I trained so well to pretend like he doesn't exist and didn't even exist in my world. I get used to it, but it will still never feel the same as it was before.

"Akala ko ba, nililigawan ka na niya? Bakit gano'n? Bakit tumigil? Ano ba talagang nangyari noong birthday ng kambal?" Lauren asked.

Ang tagal niya na akong kinukulit about dito, pero hindi pa ako handang sabihin sa kanya ang rason lalo na't clueless siya sa mga nangyayari. Hindi niya alam na aalis na kami nila Shaun.

"Oh, sorry, Shanice! Sorry kung nagiging super kulit na naman ako, ah?" she asked. I just smiled at her and nodded my head.

"Libre na lang kitang ice cream? Gusto mo?" I asked with a small smile.

"Sure, why not?" she asked. I smiled and pulled her in the ice cream parlor where Blaze and I went to last time. "Ako na ang oorder, Shanice. Ano bang gusto mo?" tanong ni Lauren. Nag-insist pa akong ako na ang magoorder pero nagpumilit siya so I just ended up telling her my favorite flavor of ice cream. She nodded, binigay ko na sa kanya ang card ko.

I took my phone out and looked at the message I got. It was from Taubin asking me where we are at. I just told him where we are and pocketed my phone again. Natanaw ko si Lauren na papunta na sa direksyon ko habang nakasimangot, nakasipit ang card sa index finger at middle finger niya.

"Loko yung cashier, ah? Ayaw tanggapin card mo!" she scoffed.

"Huh? Bakit daw?" tanong ko,

"Empty na raw!" she exclaimed. Nagulat naman ako dahil doon.

So Mom really took all my money and changed that into Euro again.

"Ah, gano'n ba? Baka may problema lang, ako na ang magpapacheck. Ano nga ang order mo?" I asked.

"Vanilla akin, gusto ko maraming crispy wafer balls." Sabi niya. tumango ako at ngumiti bago pumunta sa cashier... pero may kung sinong shunga ang tumakbo para unahan ako sa cashier.

"May I have an A3 ube ice cream and cookies and cream ice cream, medium." I was about to rant when I realized that the voice is familiar. I pursed my lips inside. Amoy na amoy ko ang pabango niya.

Aalis na sana ako papunta sa isang counter malayo sa kanya para hindi niya ako mapansin kaso bigla akong tiningnan ng cashier.

"Noted, sir. You may take your order here." Itinuro ng cashier and katabing lane. "Good afternoon, Miss. What's your order?" Blaze took down his sunglasses and fixed the collar of his polo while proceeding to the waiting lane. Kinakabahan akong lumapit sa cashier habang iniisip kung ano ang order ko.
