As I walk through the classroom door I am immediately greeted by my teacher, He gives me a slight smile before asking me,
"Hey Leah can I talk to you at my desk for a second?" My heart pounds slightly as he says that, my mind races through all the things I might have done wrong while I follow him over the the small desk packed tightly in the corner. He looks at me from the corner of his eye and chuckles,
"Leah I can tell you are panicking and you have nothing to worry about, you're not in trouble I just had a favor to ask of you, seeing as you are one of my best students I figured you would be the one that I could ask." My eyes scrunch up in confusion, how am I one of the best? I suck at science, most of the time i'm just blindly guessing, although I guess I do pretty good on my tests so that is maybe what he means.
"S-sure Mr. Roberts, w-what's the favor?"
"We have a student transforming into our class, he's not knew but his old teacher just couldn't handle him so he's coming into this one." He pauses at looks at me, so I jump in and say,
"Okay b-but what does that have to do with me?" His smile falters a bit,
"I know how you are with talking to people but I wanted to ask you if this student could sit by you and maybe ask you questions when he get's lost or something, I'll try to make sure he doesn't distract you...although he may not listen to me, he has a mind of his own.." My eyebrow goes up,
"You don't have to ask, you're the teacher whatever you want from me I don't really have a choice in the matter. and anyway i'm sure it's fine, he can't be too bad right?" Mr. Roberts chuckles slightly and shakes his head a bit before saying,
"Oh you would be surprised, he can get pretty bad, but thank you for accepting, and please if it gets to be to much please let me know, I don't want your grade suffering because he doesn't let you focus." Okay I wonder how bad this guy really is, because he has Mr. Roberts all shaken up,
"Wait h-hold on, how bad are we taking?" Mr. Roberts looks a way for a second before looking back at me and bites his lips,
"You have no idea Leah." The way he says it makes me shiver, he's making a big deal that I am actually starting to get scared, I'm about to open my mouth to say something when the bell rings, I quickly tell him its okay before finding my way to my seat. The second my butt hits the chair the door to the classroom gets thrown open and if you could see my face, my jaw was probably on the floor. Its him. The guy I ran into... I just.. is that who Mr. Robert was talking about?
"Oh my gosh I am sooo sorry Mark, I promise it wont happen again, It was not my intention to be late to class." I look at Mr. Roberts and I watch him take a deep breath before calmly saying,
"Its fine Max just try not to let it happen again okay? Now for this moment your seat with be next to Leah, and in case you haven't met her, Leah can you please raise your hand?" I take a sharp breath before tentatively raising my hand in the air, I watch Max's face as he realizes who I am and he smirks,
"Oh trust me sir, I know Leah very well, in fact we're practically best friends isn't that right Leah" He purposely puts all the attention on me, causing the hole class to look over and makes my cheeks flare up. I choose to look away instead of replying.
"Max just take a seat, okay? Can you please just try to listen?" I hear Max sigh and then I hear his foot steps coming closer before I feel his presence sitting right next to me in a chair. I feel a breath on my next before he whispers,
"Thought you were gonna avoid me huh Leah? Looks like we really are going to be the best of friends." His voice send shivers down my back but yet I still avoid eye contact. This is going to be a very long day.
