This is a story about a mother and son.
It all started when the son was born, but instead of happiness greeting the mother she was met with despair, as the father of the child walked out
Stricken with grief and pain and in financial ruin, the mother was lost
But five tiny fingers gripping her hand reignited the hope she once had
So she did the only thing she could and got a job, but one job became three
Sleep was foreign to her, the ache in her body had become like a close friend
Each year she pushed and fought, the pain being hidden by a stupid smile and false confidence
This act lasted until her son's graduation
Sitting in the stands she watched what the little baby that gripped her hand had become
As he bounced across the stage and ran down to hug her, all she could do in response to the warmth of his embrace, was cry, the only words leaving her mouth being "I am so proud of you"
