'No matter how much of a fan you are, trespassing is illegal.'
"By the way..." Aria called from the living room sofa. I came in here for a snack, not for her to speak to me. "There's no more tiger's blood."
Fuck.
I opened the cabinet and saw that she was right. There was nothing more than a quarter left in a styrofoam cup. It smelled like Maddy.
I guess it's a good thing she drank the last bit seeing as she hadn't eaten in a while but was still drinking enough to survive. She'd have to get used to drinking blood the same way she ate cheeseburgers for dinner every night.
"Yeah, I noticed. Thanks for telling me before it ran out," I said sarcastically and let the door slam.
She turned around in the couch to face me. "Alright, asshole, no need to be upset with me. The sun is gonna set in like twenty minutes just wait a while before hunting."
Bones trotted from Maddy's bedroom and sat in the middle of the hallway to listen in on our conversation.
"Twenty minutes? Why don't you use some of your witchy items for a little snack of mine. You could spare, couldn't you?" I rubbed my hands together and glanced down the hallway to her bedroom.
She pointed her index finger and me and spoke through her teeth, "Don't even think about it."
"Whatever," I sighed before sliding on my slippers and opening the backyard. Bones followed after me without a word but stayed in the gated area of the backyard. He probably had to use the restroom but didn't want to interrupt our argument.
Bones and I didn't talk a lot. Not compared to how I spoke to every other household member. I unlocked the backyard fence and made mg way through the forest, avoiding the sunlight.
I loved hunting, I loved hiding, and I loved fighting. I sped through the forest, searching for another lion for dinner. I'm sure when everyone came home they'd be hungry especially since I knew how draining Aria's spells made me feel afterwards.
I traveled through the forest, quietly and quickly. The gust of wind that I left when I ran was always my biggest enemy when it came to hunting, leaving a shudder of leaves in my trail. I loved running though, seeing the many animals that you'd never be able to see at normal speed.
It always calmed me down. During the weeks away from the house I'd often visit this forest in hopes of maybe seeing Madeline hunting on her own. I'd love to take her hunting; teach her what needs to be taught. We always made a good team together. Well — we hadn't been a team yet but we both had enough drive that I was certain we'd work well together.
