POPE, KIARA, AND John all stood in front of the Twinkie, looking defeated, almost like deflated balloons. The tow truck began pulling their beloved van away, ready to drive it off to the mechanic shop.

"Great going, JB." Kie spat, crossing her hands over her chest.

John B whipped around, "What?"

"It was no one's fault, we just gotta get to the shop and see what they say." Pope intervened, John B sighing. Apparently they had a flat tire, as well as engine problems. Great.

"Yeah, Pope is right." Kie agreed, plopping down on a bench.

"You were the one who started it." John B mentioned with an eye roll, plopping down next to the girl. Kie too rolled her eyes, leaning her head back.

"So where are we gonna get the money to pay for this shit?" Kie questioned, her lips pursed.

"I'm sure JJ will fix the Twinkie up for free. He's my oldest friend." John b said with a shrug.

_____

"FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS?!" The three practically shouted in shock while staring at the blonde boy. There JJ Maybank stood behind the counter, an oil stained towel swung over his shoulder, his white tank top also littered with oil stains. He didn't wear his usual baseball cap that day, showcasing his messy, blonde locks.

"Yep." He replied curtly, not seeming to care one bit.

"Yo, JJ. Come on." John B said, lowering his tone and leaning onto the counter.

With John and JJ's faces not far from one another, JJ smiled coldly and said, "that's mister Maybank to you."

"Dude, it's not like you have authority or something over us just because you work here." Kiara spoke up, annoyance laced in her tone.
JJ's gaze darted over to the girl and narrowed his eyes, followed by an annoyed eye roll.

"JJ, you're my best friend and I-" John B was cut off by JJ flipping the closed and open tag on the desk to 'closed'.

"Sorry... looks like we're closed, musketeer." JJ told them.

John B began to ramble, "Dude you literally just got to work." JJ only shrugged, to which John B said, "I can't afford that, I barely make enough to put gas in this piece of shit. Where am I gonna get five hundred bucks?"

"Up your ass." JJ commented blankly, continuing to walk away and work on another car. John B didn't even bother rolling his eyes at the blonde's comment. The brunette began following the boy, leaving Kie and Pope alone.

Kiara sat down on the ground, leaning her back against the wall. Pope stared down at her awkwardly, not knowing what to do with himself.

"This sucks." Kie stated, her big brown eyes set on the ground, her tongue hidden in her cheek angrily, "JJ acts like he and John B were never even friends. What's up with that?" Kiara looked up to Pope for a response, only earning a shrug and a wide-eyed stare from the boy.

It was safe to say Pope had always admired Kiara, whether anyone realized it or not. Pope had tried to talk to other girls, girls who were actually interested in him, but at the end of the day it had always been Kie.

But she never even game him the light of day.

Pope turned when he saw Kie look over his shoulder. There stood John B, seeming deflated.
