Moonwatcher's POV
I stared at my computer, trying to figure out how in the world I was going to finish this piece by Friday. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair. I wish Qibli was here to soothe me. Argh! What am I thinking?! Qibli is a superhero! He doesn't have time to be near me! He has to go do fighting stuff and things... I really need to focus. Maybe--
Ugh, I really don't want to do this new piece. But no one would want to do it! Hm, maybe Moon would want to, Abigail thought. After all, isn't she dating someone from that area? Okay, if I play this right, then she could have this and I can have this Saturday off. Abigail's thoughts seem to be getting closer. So, I straightened my back and pretended that I was working. I didn't mind that she thought of me like this. In fact, I wanted to get away from the piece I was working on now. I mean, who wants to know about a child getting stuck in a tree?
"Hey, Moon?" Abigail's voice rang, and just in time. I turned my head, making sure I didn't move too fast to show my eagerness. Okay, here goes nothing... "I have a favor to ask you."
"Shoot," I said.
"Can you cover this downtown story for me?" she wondered. I gave her an uncertain look. "Please? And who knows, maybe Cora would give you a promotion for taking up this big of a story," Abigail coaxed. I already knew that Cora wasn't going to give me a promotion anytime soon. But, downtown was interesting.
"Sure," I sighed.
"Yes! Thank you, so much!" she beamed.
"No problem." I started to gather all my things, getting ready to drive downtown. Hey, who knows, maybe I'll see Qibli. I walked out of the building, ignoring everybody's thoughts. As I drove downtown. I couldn't help but notice my sudden nerves. Calm down, Moon. You're not going to see Qibli. You're just going to talk to the police about--
Suddenly, my thoughts were cut off by a sudden screaming. Terror overwhelmed me, and I thought of the worst. Someone was planning a terrorist attack. But what was happening was much, much worse. Not too far from me was a huge monster, breaking and smashing buildings. I got out of my car, hoping to get out of this mess. Everyone was running away so, it made it hard to find the way toward a little alley.
Wait! Qibli! I needed to call him! I had to let him know what was happening! I went back into my car and searched for my phone. Darn it! I left it at the office! Unfortunately, I heard a blast and I turned my head to the noise. Thankfully, it was Qibli landing and all his friends were with him. Perfect. Maybe I should stay here. No. It's not safe in the car. I got out and ran to a little ally. But as I was running, the monster opened its mouth and started to speak.
"Glory, Tsunami, Sunny, Clay, and Starflight, did you really think making your group bigger was going to stop me?" said the monster. I paused, the monster was talking but it wasn't using its voice. Someone was controlling it.
The adults froze in place. "At least there are more of us and one of you," Glory hissed. The monster just laughed and shook his head.
"Oh Glory, haven't you realized this? I'm unbeatable," the monster said slowly. The younger students looked at the five questionably.
"I'm going to rip your head off and stuff a bunch of bees down your dead body!" Tsunami shouted gorily.
The monster rolled its eyes, but then its eyes landed on me. It gave me a sick grin and I shivered out of fear. "The more you resist me, the more humans I kill. You can't stop me, I made you!" the monster roared. Suddenly, I started to levitate. I let out an ear-piercing scream. Causing everyone to look at me. I would've shied from the attention but right now I was focused on the fact that I was about to die.
"NO!" Qibli yelled. I heard another boom and suddenly, like a bullet, I was dropped. I screamed my whole way down, fearing that I wouldn't be able to see the next day. I didn't dare open my eyes, fearing that the last thing I would ever see would be the monster's eyes. But, then someone caught me. I think I broke something because I let another scream out of my mouth. "Moon! What are you doing here?!" Qibli yelled. Or at least I thought he was Qibli. But his touch was so...cold. Not like Qibli at all.
"Q-Qibli?" I shivered.
"I'm right here," Qibli's voice rang, but he was farther. "Give her to me, Winter," Qibli ordered.
"Why? You never came running the moment she was lifted off the ground!" Winter's sharp voice yelled. How dare this fool, Winter thought.
"Winter, please. She's hurt, she needs to go to the doctor," Qibli growled, his voice calm. Winter looked at me then sighed.
He's right... "Fine. But, I'll run her there, understand? They need you. They don't need me," sighed Winter. Qibli took a few minutes to think about this.
If I let him take her, Qibli thought. She might think I'm him. Or he won't say the right words to reassure her. And--
"Q-qibli, I'll be f-fine," I whimpered.
"B-but--"
"Winter's right. They need you. I'll be okay," I whispered. Qibli sighed then kissed my cheek.
"I'll come find you," Qibli murmured.
"No doubt you will," Moon said. Then I was off. I went away from Qibli and towards the hospital with Winter.
