Today was much as though it was like any other day. Denice was awake and craving coffee like the usual, not surprising. Her hair was curly and unruly as shredded yarn. Her music was one of the only things that she listened to,her playlists and podcasts lasted her hours, maybe even days if possible. Her clothes were a brownish sweater embroider with cute pumpkins for the season of fall that had just began a few days ago. She had brought a backpack to put her stuff in but still wanted to use her old cat purse to go out today.

Denice started to walk down the sidewalk listening to her music, the sound flooding her ears making her skip and jog on the street. She was happy today it wasn't that usual that she felt like this. The relaxing and exciting sounds of her music and the chirping of birds kept on playing as she jogged across the wet sidewalk from the rain a day beforehand.

She didn't usually jog as much but it was nice for her to be productive and healthy. After slowing down and panted from her running she stopped and looked at a coffee shop and saw inside. She saw a menu for different types of seasonal drinks. The writing was neat but apparently done quickly with a piece of green chalk.

She didn't really care because she was exhausted and wanted something to drink. As she opened the door she heard the bells jingle and loved the noises it made. Denice walked towards a table and sat down unplugging her earphones stuffing them into her bag sloppily. Her eyes turned toward her server. "Hello there what can I get you?" They said looking at her with a notepad in hand. They had a black hat and an orange apron.

"I'll just have a medium iced coffee if that's ok." Denice said holding the menu. "Sure anything else?" They repeated. "I'll get some pumpkin cake pops too if that's alright." She added smiling. The server walked away to the barista as Denice looked out the large window to see the view from the small shop.

A large fluffy dog and it's owner passed by while many people looked busy and looked at their watches. She sighed and turned her attention to another person sitting across from her table. The woman looked to be about the same age as her with long pastel pink hair and stunning blue eyes. Her hair shined in the sunlight as she peacefully wrote on her silver laptop.

Denice's heart raced as she looked at her with curiosity. She got lost in thought staring at the woman wondering what she was doing or studying. Suddenly the woman looked back at her attentively with her eyes feeling like fire melting Denice. The curious girl turned away embarrassed. She blushed as the server finally came back with her coffee and food.

"Here you go ma'am that will be seventeen dollars." The server said politely. "Ok sure just give me a moment." Denice said pulling out her wallet grabbing the money frantically. After giving the money to the cashier she started sipping her drink while listening to some loud music mumbling the lyrics to herself. She was too focused of the music to notice familiar footsteps moving towards her.

She suddenly felt a small tap on her shoulder and she turned around surprised. She then saw her old "friend" from high school. They had never really been on good terms after he had hurt her and it made her uncomfortable to talk with him. "Hey Dennie how are you! It's been a while hasn't it?" He said smiling almost in an unsettling manner. "Yea, it's fine I guess..." she said turning away from him hoping he would get the hint and leave her alone.

Sadly he didn't and sat down across from her while she tried to find ways to calm herself down from her anxiety of seeing him again without making it obvious. "How's your life been going so far, anything exciting happen?" He exclaimed staring at her with the perspective of a snake. She cringed at the sight of him and said, "Its fine I just need to go I uhm," she thought of an excuse and said, "I have a doctors appointment today so I need to get going!" She started to get up but he grabbed her arm.

"It's alright you really don't need to go it's just a doctor anyways who cares." He exclaimed with a smirk. "No, I really need to go sorry." She started to walk always and grabbed her bag.
Her eyes turned to the door as she ran outside hoping that he wouldn't catch up to her. Her eyes darted for a place to hide when she spotted something. It was a bench next to but away from the shop.

She sat on the bench and started to cry. Her thoughts all muddled from the encounter from a horrible memory from her old life. She felt like a small bunny trapped in a world of dogs and horrible animals waiting to torment her. After crying for a while she felt somebody sit next to her. She looked up and saw the pastel pink haired girl from earlier looking at her curiously.

"Are you alright?" The girl said concerned grabbing Denice's hands and looking at her. Denice looked at her not realizing her tears were still streaming down her face. "Y-yea I'm fine it's just I..." she stammered trying to fit her words together. "Hey it's ok you don't need to tell me, here you can have this you forgot it in the shop." The woman handed Denice the cake pops she didn't finish and hugged the crying girl.

Denice gently started to eat the cake pop as the woman sat next to her. "My names Sally by the way in case you were wondering." She said looking at the girl nibbling her sweets. "Oh my name is Denice nice to meet you." She said smiling gratefully at the pink haired woman. Sally smiled and drank her coffee as she watched the cars pass by in the road.

Denice finished the cake pop and sat next to Sally. "So what do you do for a living?" Denice asked curiously from the laptop she saw earlier. "Oh I'm a therapist,I usually work with children and young adults although I have gone over that age range." Sally exclaims. "What about you what do you do for a living?" She asked also curious.

"Oh sorry it's a bit complicated!" Denice says nervously "It's boring so it's really nothing." Sally looks at her confused but still smiles. They chat and talk together for a while as they grow closer with each minute ticking by as if it were a gust of wind.

Soon the sun begins to set and they start to grow tired. Denice yawns and looks up at the sky. "It's getting late I should be going home soon." She says looking at Sally with tired eyes. "Yea your right, maybe we should meet up at the book store soon if you want to?" Denice said yawning. "Actually that would be amazing so sure why not, same time tomorrow make sure you don't forget." Sally says as she walks away waving goodbye. M waves back nervously and she goes back home her eyes heavy and tired.
