Villains were acting up in various parts of Japan. Fights between gangs brought the the horrors of being a hero. Even minor disputes escalated to absolute carnage.
A random turf war brought forward a grave issue. A simple bust of a drug gang turned into a dangerous fight in the streets.
A meeting was held a few days later with many heroes and their interns attending it. Even Eraserhead and Gran Torino were there. Ochako, Tsuyu, Nejire, Kirishima and Amaijaki were the interns along with Mirio and I.
The meeting was about a drug that had appeared on the streets along with a bullet that seemed to stop people from using their quirk.
Trigger, a drug that amplified the user's quirk at the cost of their rationality. Was it not for Kirishima, the situation could have been a lot worse.
Everything was ultimately linked to the Eight Precepts of Death and the man leading the organization, Chisaki.
As if that wasn't bad, the contents of the bullet were found out to be none other than blood. Mirio and I immediately realised whose blood it was.
As we were getting over the fact that Eri's blood and cells were being harvested, Rock Lock said, "It's fine and all that the kid's alive, but, if one were to guess, the boss would want to hide the girl, who is the core component to his plan, right? And after all that trouble, she somehoe makes it outside. And on top of that, to be spotted by these two brat heroes. Do you think he'd honestly keep her at the headquarters after all that? If it were me, I wouldn't. It doesn't matter if we attack in case the girl's not there. Have we been able to specify her whereabouts?"
Nighteye looked at me and said, "It would have been an almost impossible task to do that. But, thankfully we have someone whose quirk is well suited for such things. Emerald Knight, do you think you can sense her location?"
As all eyes turned towards me, I said, "I've been taking note of her location ever since we saw her. She was moved quite a few times. Also, Chisaki doesn't keep her at one location for long. They change bases every four days. Today is the second day of their stay in one of their bases. If we want to act, then now's the time. Eri is alone and I can easily teleport to her location and get her away from Chisaki before anyone even realises what happened. Once the man realizes that Eri is gone, he will surely try everything in his power to find her. She will never be safe as long as that man is allowed to be free."
Nighteye nodded and said, "He is right. We need to attack the moment he secures Eri. I have spent months in planning different scenarios and this is the best possible way to secure her. This ensures her rescue and safety and that is our priority. After that, it will all depend on us how we handle Chisaki and his men. I have tested Emerald Knight's abilites and his quirk is extremely accurate in determining the location and the exact number of men at the base we will be attacking. Does anyone have anything to say?"
The plan was set.
Soon, a warrant was generated against the base under suspensions of illegal manufacture and packaging of drugs. The police department was leading the mission with heores there to handle quirk related resistance.
Sharp at 8:30 am, everyone assembled approached the base as I used Conqueror's will to form contact with Eri.
'Eri-chan..'
The said girl suddenly got up from her bed and looked around to see where the voice was coming from.
'Do you remember me, Eri-chan?'
The girl tilted her head and said in a low voice, "Hero onii-chan?"
'So you do remember me! Such a bright girl you are! Do you remember the promise I made to you?'
Eri's eyes widened in excitement and hope and she said in her mind, 'Y-You mean..!'
'Yes! I am here to rescue you! When I told by superiors about you, they jumped at the chance to save you. Right now, the whole building is surrounded by police and the heroes who want to save you and protect you. Isn't that amazing?'
'Y-Yes!'
'Now, I will be appearing in your room. Don't panic or make any noise, alright? I will be taking you to a very safe place to a nice and cute granny who will check your health and give you lots of candy! Hero onii-chan will have to return here to beat Chisaki up for being such a poopyhead towards you.'
Eri giggled and thought, 'Hero onii-chan is silly.'
'Fufufu🎶.. Yes.. Yes🎶.. I am silly. Now, are you ready?'
'Umu.'
I concentrated and teleported directly next to her.
"Hero onii-chan!" Eri exclaimed with joy. She was finally going to rescued from her hellish prison.
I hugged her and whispered, "Shhh!! Don't be so loud!"
"Gah!"
Then I smiled as she burried her head into my chest and I said, "You're safe now, Eri-chan. Hero onii-chan will not let that bad man Chisaki ever hurt you. Let's get out of here."
The smile of pure happiness on her face and tears in her eyes were enough to seal Chisaki's fate.
Going out of the way to help someone, telling them that they are safe. Ensuring that everything will be alright.. Saving not only someone's life but also their innocence, their smile.. their soul.. That, is what a hero does.
That day, as I looked at Eri's smile.. I truely became a hero.
