Ember
I blinked a few times as I tried to figure out where I was. I was in a forest, I walked along the path until I reached a house. I could see figures beyond the glass porch doors and I heard yelling. I reached for the handle but my body went easily through the glass. I took a few unstead steps forward.
"Your useless!" a woman whose face was blacked out yelled. I watched in horror as she raised her hand smacking the child. He fell to the the ground as she continued to yell at him.
"I wish I never had you!" she screamed and took off. I went forward bending down to hold the boy with hair so light it almost looked white. As I reached for him he suddenly turned around smacking my hands away.
"You're useless!" he screamed as tears poured out his bright blue eyes. He looked so vulnerable his eyes held so much pain. He stood up and started running.
"Wait Marcel!" I called out as I followed him back into the forest. I ran as fast as I could but my body felt slow, his body seeming to get fainter. I stopped as I saw a group of kids circling around something I could not see. I pushed past them looking at a slightly older version of Marcel. His face was bruised and his lip was bleeding.
"You're so weak!"
"Such a freak!"
The voice taunted him, spewing so many insults.
"Die! Die! Die!" Marcel screamed as he threw himself at one of the kids. His fists pounded into the face relentlessly as his knuckles became more and more stained with blood. His eyes were piercing as he mercilessly. All the kids just stood around in shock as Marcel continuously beat into the kids face. Blood splattering everywhere.
I looked away only to be back in his house.
"How dare you embarrass us!" a man whose face was also black out yelled. My breath caught in my throat as I looked down at the baseball bat filled with nails.
"This will show you!" he spat as he raised his arms above his head, "Monster!"
"No don't!" I screamed as I stepped in front of Marcel but the bat went right through me. I turned as I saw Marcel's crumpled body. "Stop it please!" I screamed as the man struck him over and over again. Blood splattering all over the carpet.
"You made a mess," the man said after what felt like hours of beatings. He threw the bat down and walked away.
"Marcel," I cried out as I picked him up. Blood was staining his hair and I pushed it away from his face.
"Don't worry, this has a happy ending," he chuckled. He stood up holding his hand out to me. I slowly took it and as we stood up the scene changed.
His parents laid dead on the floor in front of us. Their torsos had been sliced to ribbons. I brought my hands to my mouth in horror. I looked back down at Marcel who was staring at me with wide eyes. His smile went ear to ear as he held his bloodied knife.
"See? I am not useless?"
I gasped as I was suddenly pulled back, the world rushing away from me turning black.
"No Marcel!" I screamed as I started to fall.
When I opened my eyes I was floating in water. I opened my mouth expecting to choke, but I could breath.
"Darling."
I looked up as Marcel came behind me holding me against him as we floated.
"I do really love you. I know I hurt you....but you were everything to me."
