(Lights up on the rest of the group in the pastor's office, soon after joined by Isaac and Janna.)

BRUCE:    Well look who decided to join the group.

JANNA:    What is everybody doing in here?

JON:        We got sent to the principal's office.

SHARON:    Pastor's sick of everybody acting and hollering like children.

MARK:    We've been getting reprimanded like kids.

FUDGE:    Because you have been acting like children.

ISAAC:    I don't blame him.

FUDGE:    Where have the both of you been?

MARK:    We thought maybe you were dead.

SHARON:    Mark, this here is no time for that kinda talk, now. It's too soon again.

FUDGE:    Where were the both of you?

BRUCE:    Seems a little suspicious to me that the recently ex-boyfriend and the known enemy of the deceased had run off together for who knows what. What were you two conspiraling about?

JANNA:    We didn't like each other but we were not enemies. And how dare you, Asshole, we didn't kill nobody. And even if we had, we would have conspired before we killed her, not after. Conspiring doesn't do any good when there is nothing to conspire against.

BRUCE:    (Beat) Yeah, well maybe you're conspiring against somebody else. Someone else who maybe deserves to die in your book. Maybe somebody who knows too  much about too many things? Or somebody that you don't like. My wife happens to fit both those descriptions. She knows a lot about the goings on around here, and nobody seems to like her. So you'll have to forgive my caution.

VIRGINIA:    Bruce, why do you talk?

BRUCE:    What did I say?

VIRGINIA:    Anything at all is a problem these days.

JANNA:    We were just talking.

VIRGINIA:    Just talking?

JANNA:    What's that supposed to mean, Ms. Virginia?

VIRGINIA:    It's just a question. I know how the youth of this church like to sneak off into the classrooms and well....let's just say they're not holding  a prayer hour.

STEVE:    That's not right, Ms. Virginia. I don't mean to be rude or make you more upset but it does no good to throw out talk like that.

FUDGE:    Mrs. Hickory I will not have those kinds of insinuations about the youth group in my church.

BRUCE:    Your church. Everything here is about you. What's yours. You leave my wife alone.

VIRGINIA:    Now, now, Bruce, tensions are high. The pastor is just trying to keep the peace here.

MARK:    May I just say one thing? I reckon I can't speak to a motive but you asked me which one person in this room could commit cold blooded murder I can only tell you one name.

(Bruce slowly approaches Mark.)

BRUCE:     Now listen here you greasy elongated butterball. You and I have our little jig and that's fine we can agree to not like one another. But damn sweet Lord Almighy if you accuse me or my wife of murder I will//

MARK:     //Shut up Bruce.

VIRGINIA:    Brother Kettering is this some kind of anger that is being projected onto us that is really about the theft and the boy?
