The stars sprinkled the dark blue sky that streched across the lands similar to a gigantic dome and far, far away, the moon illuminated the features of the compound.
The world gave the impression of standing still for now. If only there wasn't the silhouette of a young female who took a seat on a coolish masonry near the main building.
Silent sobs racked through her body, tears crawled down her skin. If there had existed a reason for her current state, she didn't know how to put it into words.
Yet crying felt liberating.
The darkness made her feel safe and isolated from anyone or anything, anywhere. Simply the idea of somebody watching her letting her happy facade fall would make her uncomfortable, but at night it rather wouldn't be the case.
Until this night.
Her tears had just began to dry when a sudden yet gentle voice behind her back caused her to jump.
„[Name]."
Her heart rate increased as her mind started to figure out what this situation was. She'd dropped her surface, allowing itself to crumble down, which simply meant she wasn't able to build it back up within seconds.
And now the glance of no other than the god of mischief's himself had laid itself onto her puffy eyes, her shivering limbs and her dispirited expression.
"You", she barely managed to croak out.
Loki sat down, his eyes still fixed on her. If it had been someone else, she would've been sure they were filled with concern.
"Have you been up to this more often than I hope you have lately?"
The tone of his voice sounded so unusually soft and caring that it made her shiver.
"Why would you care about me that much?" she heard herself counter.
A sigh was escaping Loki's lips, followed by a silence. Then she felt him shift closer and carefully place his hand on her forearm.
"I've experienced that feeling. You clearly haven't got a reason to be in such a state, but it's simply the way it is. Sometimes, it may even feels liberating after, but overall, it's a circle repeating itself, stealing every spark of your energy. In the end, it's..."
He didn't dare to finish his sentence as he noticed the tears that had swelled up in her eyes again.
"... it feels vile", she finished his words, receiving a nod. Now the tears threatened to spill with every time she inhaled.
Realising the Loki who had committed countless crimes and evil deeds, who seemed so tough, so ice cold anytime, was relating to her issues, her emotions, it seemed unrealistic in her eyes.
His gaze spoke volumes. A mix of concern, grief, vulnerability and what she'd just thought about him reflected there as well.
Hesitantly, her arms wrapped around his torso. Her tears stained his shirt, but Loki didn't mind.
"It'll pass", he promised whilst gently stroking across her back, holding her in a tight embrace.
"It's a phase."
