The Lost Memories

The birds chirps in the morning, the best alarm in the world! I dreamt about Eiji being a white cat yesterday. It is impossible for him to be a cat, right? I lift off my blanket and see Eiji is curling up on my bed, still sleeping. Hahaha... Looks like I'm still sleeping. Goodnight! I throw myself on my soft pillow and close my eyes, trying to sleep. A few moments later, I feel something rough and wet rubbing against my nose. I open my eyes slowly. Eiji climbed on my body and is licking my nose repeatedly while purring. It's not a dream?! I put him next to me. "Are you hungry?" he puts his small hand on my nose. I guess it is a yes. "Let's go for breakfast." I hold out my hand for him. He quickly climbs on top of my right shoulder, rubbing his head against my cheek and purring intensely.

Like yesterday, I give him three helpings of deep fry fishes coated with flour. I watch him as he enjoys his meal. He wags his tail side to side very fast. The fishes must be good. After the meal, I bring him to the 'hell' for cats, the bathroom. When we arrive there, he turns his face to me and makes puppy eyes, hoping that I will not take him inside. "Yes, you have to go in." I say. He struggles to free himself from me. "Eiji! Don't try to run!" I scold him. He stops struggling immediately. "Good boy!" I rub his head. This is hard. I totally forgotten that Eiji is a boy. Hmm... Then, Lancelot pass by us.

"Hey, Lancelot! Can you do me a favor?" I call him. "What it will be?" he walks towards us. "Can you bath him?" I show the cat Eiji, who pouts in response. "I see... So, Eiji had turned into cat." he examines Eiji. "Okay then. Wait here. I'll do it for him." he grabs Eiji and the two males go into the bathroom. As I'm waiting for them outside the bathroom, I hear Eiji mews for help. I hold myself from going inside to check on him. 15 minutes later, both of them exit the bathroom. Lancelot got scratches all over his face. "Here you go..." he returns Eiji to me. Eiji sobs as I try to console him by rubbing his head. "It must be hard for you." I say. "You have given us, the refugees from Aisitti a place to take shelter. These scratches are nothing compare to what you have done to us. If there is nothing for me to do, I would like to go training." he replies. I bid him farewell as he walks towards the training ground.

Eiji pouts some more when I forgot about him. I pinch his nose slowly. He quickly rubs his nose when I let his nose off. Alright, what to do now? "Empress." one of the researchers call me. I turn to him. "We have successfully created a new power source but it still a prototype. Would you like to see it?" he asks. I nod as he brings us to the development room located in the basement. Eiji looks the things around him in amusement. "Please wait for awhile." he puts the security code inside the security door. The door open as soon as the correct code has been given. He invites us to come with us. We meet with another two researchers, who are adjusting the parameters for their inventions. "Sara, Laura. The empress wants to see our latest prototype." the reseaercher tells them. The blonde woman nods as she pushes down a green button on the monitor.

Suddenly, a robotic arm puts down an electric generator out of nowhere. The cube, located in the center of the testing room, starts to glow in green. "We would like to call this invention as the 'Core'. If this core is a success, it will be able to supply a lot amount of electric energy for the citizens." he explains. "One quick question. How this core work?" I ask in curiousity. "Nuclear reactions. But, don't worry. The possibility for it to meltdown is zero for this prototype since we use the scales of the dragons which have been slayed by the hero. The scales are somewhat really tough, tougher than steels and who knows the scale might be a match against the golem scale, that has been said to be the toughest material in the world." I nod as my worried fade away. We look back at the core prototype which is glowing in bright green, brighter than before. The electric generator starts to work, making machine sounds and the turbine spins very fast. "If this project is a success, we won't have to worry about power shortage for a very long duration. This prototype can supplies electric for all citizens for about 100 years." he tells in proud. I pat his left shoulder, congratulating him for the new invention.

Eiji's ears twitch like crazy. "What's wrong?" I ask him. He jumps on my shoulder and growls angrily. All of us suprise with Eiji's sudden behaviour. Eiji jumps off from my shoulder and start to run."Eiji!" I call him. "Ah! The core, the blueprint! It's gone! Our hardwork has gone!" he exclaims. I quickly chase Eiji, hoping that Eiji is chasing for the thief. I notice Eiji is panting heavily while on his four legs. I run towards him to check on him. Eiji growls, intimidating his opponents. I turn to his oppenents. What? What is that? I never see that kind of thing. Eiji's opponent is like a human but it has mechanical all over it body. Eiji arches his back angrily. I step backwards, trying to figure out a strategy. Eiji suddenly appears behind his opponent and scratch its back but it has no effect. Eiji tries again with some more scratches but it still have no effect. "Hey, kitty! Try the say 'Burn up'!" Lancelot shout from a distance. Eiji nods and say "Burn up!" in the kittiest voice ever.

His body quickly change into a normal, adult Eiji with long and sharo claws equipped to both his hands. He also has this white fur mantle on his back. "Hmm? What is this? Claws?" Eiji looks confused. Suddenly, his opponent rushes towards him. "What is that?" Eiji asks but we can't answer it since we too don't know what is that. Eiji blocks his opponent punch with his left hand and punches it hardly enough to send it flying and breaking some trees which it lands. Its eyes glows in red and suddenly Eiji is forced to lay on the ground. "What is this? Something is pulling me down!" Eiji exclaims. "That's a spell called gravity! Counters it with your inner strength!" Lancelot tells him. Eiji screams and stands up on his feet again, panting a lot. Eiji's opponent pulls out a sharp dagger and rushes towards him. "Eiji! Be careful!" Lancelot warns him as he rushes himself and blocks the attack with his strong, masculine arm. "Sorry, but sharp things won't have any effect on me." Lancelot tells it. "Eiji! Finish it now!" Lancelot adds. "Understood!" Eiji jumps as he slashes his claws on his opponent, breaking it apart before it selfdestruct. "I wonder what is that thing. And why are you able to block that thing attack with no problem?" Eiji asks.

Lancelot giggles a bit. "Well, actually I am a golem in human form." Lancelot reveals his secret. Eiji and I are both shocked with the sudden truth. "I heard that golems are really strong and that explain why are you so strong." I try to commicate as well. Eiji looks at his paws in confused. He puts his paws on Lancelot's face. "What are these?" he asks. "A soul of a deceased cat entered your body and accidently you both went into metaphormosis mode." Lancelot explains as Eiji rubs his paws on Lancelot's face. Lancelot turns to me. "This cat name is Yuki, a white snow cat that you gave her food everyday few years ago. She fell from a mountain when she tried to pick up a rare flower and died." Lancelot explains. I remembered now. That cat... The white and small white cat, that always sleep on my window when I'm carrying my duty. I close my face with my hands and start to cry. "Why... Why did you go there?" I say in sobbing. Eiji kneels and puts his right paw on my right shoulder. "I'm sure she just want to pay you back by bringing you a flower." Lancelot nods when Eiji finishes his sentences. I cry a lot more as I hear that.

"What is this?" Lancelot picks up the core. "That's a prototype of the new invention that our researches made." I wipe away my tear. He gives me the little cube that lose it green light. Eiji exhale slowly as his 'Burn up' gone and he is back to his cat mode. I put the core into my pocket and hug him. "Thank you, Yuki. I'm grateful you're doing this for me." I thank her as he purrs and kiss my cheek. Eiji's feline features start to leave into light particles. I wipe away my tears and bid her farewell. "She finally able to move on to the next world." Lancelot says. Eiji back to his normal self but he fainted right after all the feline features gone. Lancelot carries him on his big back. "How did you know about Yuki?" I ask. "She told me when I bathe Eiji." Lancelot replies short. I nod and rushes towards the researchers to return the core. I apologize to them for not being able to return the stolen blueprint. They shook their heads, implying that it is okay. I excuse myself and go back to resume my duty and ending my day with a good sleep.
