*Maria looks blankly into the café wall, nothing seems to interest her on the sweet-filled menu.*

"Hello? Miss? Ah! There you are! May I take your order?"
Maria snaps back into reality. How long had she been there, idling about? It doesn't matter anymore. She was hungry. A tall man with ash blonde hair and emerald eyes bent over the table, notepad and pen poised expectantly.
"Oh. Yes. Can I have..."
She took another absent-minded glance at the menu. The usual would do.
"I'll have a chocolate fudge pour brownie please."
The man nodded eagerly and hurried off to the kitchen, calling names and orders to the staff.
She hadn't seen this man before. Maybe he was new? The café was a bit run down, she thought it needed a little outside renovation to attract new customers. The inside was fine though, because all the interior was either newly installed or looked after carefully. She liked this café as well, her father had taken her to the grande opening when she was young, the staff were so nice, and the sunlight shone through the stained glass windows. The stained glass portrayed a lily. Her mother was called Lily.
She missed her parents.
The man came swiftly back and placed her chocolate fudge brownie on the table. Maria gazed out the window thoughtfully. She'd been there an hour, she decided as she slowly ate her brownie. A young lady with a brown messy bun on top of her head pattered over to her table and stammered, "A coffee on the house, s-since everyone thought you looked sad."
She smiled hopefully at her and Maria smiled back. She was only thinking, but she couldn't deny a free coffee. She sipped it happily. Double toffee latte. Delicious.
