Alexei's P.O.V

I wanted nothing more than to spend time with Zachariel and the kids when I returned home from France. I felt frustrated when I couldn't. Chance was on holiday for a month. I had to handle everything by myself once again. I hardly got a chance to have a decent conversation with Zachariel. Zachariel was busy as well. I didn't want to upset him by acting clingy. So I left him alone. I had noticed that Zachariel stayed as far away as possible from Madeline, especially when she was with the kids. I already knew that Zachariel wasn't fond of Madeline. It seemed like something happened between Zachariel and Madeline in my absence. The incident probably worsened their relationship. I had asked Triton to investigate Madeline's family history. I wanted to know if she was somehow related to the Malachi family or me. Zachariel wouldn't dislike anyone without any reason. Triton, unfortunately, didn't find anything alarming about Madeline's biological family. I wanted to fire Madeline, but Triton stopped me. He told me that there was a shortage of professional homeschool teachers in Los Angeles. It meant that he couldn't find anyone with a decent background to educate the kids.

I had no other choice than to ask Triton to look in other states. Countless teachers needed the extra money. I was sure that one of them would happily accept the job. I was exhausted, but I could see that Zachariel was in a worse state than me. It looked like being constantly busy with the kids, and his new company took a toll on him. I was astounded when Charlotte told me that Zachariel woke up at least three times a night to check on the kids. We all needed a vacation to cleanse our minds and body.
