"And right over here are the toilets," said the slightly old lady showing me around. I never caught her name. I nodded, not really paying attention. I felt various pairs of eyes burning into the back of my head and I instantly blushed, I wasn't made for the spotlight. I was the new girl here. The shiny new toy. Luckily the bell had just rung as we were walking in so there weren't too many people around to stare at me. We walked past a stage in a big room and towards a little door in the corner. "And this over here would be your classroom" the lady said. Instantly I felt butterflies in my stomach. Must remember to breathe. I've done this plenty of times before, I can do it again. I quickly ran my hands through my medium length brown hair and smoothed down the horrid, knee length skirt I had to wear. Remember to smile and seem confident. Confidence is the key. Confidence is the key. I kept chanting that through my head until I felt a pat on my shoulder. Oh god, this is it. I looked up to see a young friendly looking lady smiling down at me, "You must be Amelia," she said and led me into the room. The class was pretty small. I looked around to see kids smiling, laughing and chatting away but as they started to notice me the conversations faded and eventually died, leaving about 25 kids all looking at me with curiousity. "Alright class," the teacher said, "this is Amelia. She will be joining our class. Please all make her feel welcome." She turned back to me, "Do you know how to play battleships? We were about to get started with it" I shook my head shyly. I've never even heard of the game. "I'll show her how to play, Miss" I heard a voice say. I turned around to see a friendly looking boy with light brown hair smiling at me. "Hi, my name is Lachlan" he said as we walked over to a table. "I'm Amelia" I say smiling back. He started explaining all the rules but none of it made sense. I didn't want to ask him to repeat it, I'd sound so stupid. Come on brain, think! I would of played this game sometime in my life, surely! A pretty girl with short blonde hair walked up to us, "Lachlan, you aren't explaining it right! Here, I'll show her how to play" she said as she smiled at me. Lachlan got up straight away, offering her the seat. He smiled at her in a very overly friendly way and walked off. The girl just rolled her eyes and smiled again. "I'm Lillie" she said. She started telling me about the people in the class. Apparently Lachlan has this massive crush on her. You could even tell just by the way he looked at her.  Everyone seemed pretty nice which was good, although none of the others had really made an effort to talk to me like Lillie did.  After she finsihed giving me a rough summary of all the people I started telling her about myself and soon enough we were in a deep conversation learning so much about eachother. When the bell to lunch rang I was suprised. I hadn't expected time to go by so fast. "Would you like to sit with me?" Lillie asked, "yes please" I replied, relieved that I wouldn't spend lunch wandering around lost. I was so happy I had already made a new friend. Being new wouldn't be so bad if I had someone to stick with.
