Esmé pov
It's my moms birthday today.
She's not the type to have a big lavish party, with hundreds of people and 20 cakes.
No, she's the type to sit at in a cafe, with a book having her 'birthday coffee' (which is just a regular coffee, but she drinks it on her birthday)
But this years her 50thWhat point in being 50 if your not gonna have a party
(Intro rock n roll music like this is some kind of coming of age movie lmao)I had just finished doing my makeup, when there was a knock on the door.
"Ez hurry up, people are arriving" my mom half shouted.
"Okayy" I screamed back, maybe a little too loudly.
God I was excited I wasn't the type for overcrowded high school parties ( even though I sometimes enjoy them) but this was different.
It was my mom, all dressed up, about to have a great night, and I was happy for her.
I'm great at making my family laugh too, so I'm getting ready for a massive ego boost tonight.I gave myself once last glance in the mirror.
My brown curly hair was left falling down just below my shoulders, my navy blue dress that ended just at my knee, really made my figure look good. And my half heavy makeup really brought out my green eyes.I felt pretty.
I started to walk down the stairs to see that many people have arrived, most of whom I was familiar with.
Our house wasn't massive, it was just the right size if you ask me, couple bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, sitting room, nice garden what more could you want?
We weren't poor, we weren't rich,
We were just okay."Psssst" some whispered.
I wiped round to see my sister Nellie peering out her door.
My sister was 12, and we looked nothing alike, she has dead straight blonde hair and blue eyes, and lemme tell you it was stupid easy to convince her she was adopted when we younger."What?" I whispered back
"I can't zip up my dress"
"That kinda sounds like a you problem"
"Pleeease"
I laughed
"Alright"
She thanked me and then we walked down the stairs together. She spilt away from me to go find one of our cousins to hang out with, and I went to find mom.
I found her near the kitchen pouring drinks for people, she was laughing and talking, it was nice.
She's been really unhappy since dad got drafted again, I wish he wouldn't go, but he always does."Ezzy!" My said pulling me out of my little sad story. "You look gorgeous darling".
I smiled
"Thank you mom"
I was trying to enjoy it all, I knew as soon as this party was over she'd be back to her depressive state. But until then, I'm gonna have some fun.
Out of no where, my aunt taps me on the shoulder. I turn to see her.
"Evening darrling" she says in her usual extravagant voice.
She was wearing a bright pink flowy... cloth?
I really don't know what she's wearing, something she picked up on her travels.
"Aunt paula!" I tried to match her energy but I couldn't do it as good as her.
" be a doll and grab me a toothbrush from upstairs, there's a fine looking fellow over there, and I just ate a curry"
I was laughing as I was trying to climb the stairs, if there's anyone I could be, it's her.I grabbed a new toothbrush from the draw, and got to the top of the stairs, when I saw the front door opening.
A dark haired woman came through he door.
It was Trina, my moms best friend.Oh no
There's someone elseNate.
