The first six chapters of this book was written in 2021 so its pretty awful, I decided to continue it almost 4 years later.

Killua couldn't move. He couldn't scream, couldn't run, he could only watch. Watch as Illumi stood over Gon, blood pooling around his body. G-Gon... Illumi turned to look over his shoulder for a second, those large black eyes that haunted his dreams stared back at him. "this'll teach you. You'll have no choice but to come back and become the heir Kil" His entire body went as cold as ice. No...No!...NO! NO! Killua woke up with a start, tears streaming down his face and gasping for breath. "GON!" Killua blinked, then his brain registered the hard sidewalk beneath him. He sat up, looking around. He was in what he thought was a neighborhood, houses and roads as far as he could see. It was...a dream? He wiped his eyes, then bit his lip. Where am I?

As he was about to stand up, his hand brushed against something. Killua turned his head to look, and when he did his breath caught in his throat. It was Gon's backpack. Killua's arms started to tremble. No...Gon's-where- No matter how hard he tried to deny it, he knew the truth. That was no dream. He squeezed his eyes shut, clenching his teeth and trying his best to hold in his tears. It didn't work. They rolled freely down his cheeks, silent but tragic. Gon's...dead. The truth hit him harder than anything he could imagine. All those scenarios, all the ways he imagined that having a friend would backfire. He didn't expect it to be so devastating. Killua clutched the bag close to his chest, trying to keep his sobs as quiet as he could. And I'll never get to tell him how much I loved him... He sat there for a long time, ignoring when cars whizzed by or people stepped around him. Not one of them stopped to speak to him, a few stared but that was about it. Eventually the well behind his eyes ran dry, and he looked up. It was late in the afternoon, he'd been sitting on the sidewalk for at least three hours. What now? He thought numbly for a moment. What was he supposed to do now? What was the point? The only goal I ever had in life was to be Gon's friend. Without him...what am I? he huffed. I'm a Zoldyck, a cold blooded assassin.

But what could he do with that title? Get himself a job? Just the thought of him holding a knife against someone reminded him of Gon telling him he could change. His breath hitched slightly, and Killua heard a voice. "hey you" he blinked, then looked blankly over his shoulder. There was a woman with short spikey ash blonde hair standing there with a slight frown. "Mh" He couldn't think of anything to say. "Why the hell're you just sitting on the sidewalk?" He didn't respond, he had no answer. The woman's frown deepened slightly, "how long have you been sitting there for?" Killua blinked slowly. "Three hours" Her eyes widened, and she glanced around at the people on the street. "nobody did anything?" Killua shrugged slightly, before resting his chin on the bag. Why would they? It's not like I deserve it or anything. "You're coming to my house" she said firmly. Killua blinked. Should I trust her? There was a pretty good chance that she'd betray him as soon as they got off the street. Killua found that he couldn't bring himself to care though. So he stood up, still holding the backpack to his chest. Gon's fishing rod nearly whacked her in the face, but she sidestepped without shouting at him for it. He followed her as she walked, not saying a word. "It's a pretty long walk to be honest, I go on runs sometimes. Tell me if you get tired alright?" He nodded, and they started jogging. Honestly it was slow for him, he was used to fast paced 5 kilometer runs. Eventually he slipped the backpack on his back, it was a little tight but it worked. After about five minutes he sensed a presence behind him. Hmm...

Ten more minutes passed, the same person was still following them. They ran along the sidewalks for a while, until they started into a shortcut. The shortcut was through a small patch of woods, it was then that the woman let out a short bark of laughter. "Oh, the name's Mitsuki by the way." He said nothing, nodding slightly in acknowledgement. Killua couldn't help but notice that they were still being followed, this wasn't just someone going the same way. He stopped, causing Mitsuki to glance back in confusion. Killua turned, putting his hands behind his head and a monotone expression on. "care to tell me why you've been following us for the past twenty minutes?" Mitsuki stopped, eyes snapping to the treeline. No answer. "There's nobody the-" Killua picked up a rock and threw it lightning fast, it struck whoever it was in the forehead and they let out a cry of pain. "I know your there" someone with a weird outfit walked out of the trees, it looked like a Halloween costume to him. "Damn, pretty perceptive for a kid" Killua's eyes narrowed, "get lost" the man scoffed. "what're you gonna do?" Killua chuckled humorlessly, then put his hands back behind his head and tilted his head back with a dark look. It wasn't quite a glare, but it was close. "I'm not in a good mood. Fuck off" There was a blur, and he caught a dagger just a few inches away from Mitsuki's head. Her eyes went wide, and he glared, before snapping the metal with his fingers. The man jumped, then took a step back as he took a pace forward. "I said I'm not in the mood" Killua repeated darkly, letting a tiny bit of bloodlust ooze out of his gaze. "but by all means, piss me off why don't you" Killua didn't feel like playing nice. If this bitch fucked with him again there'd be a hole in his chest 4 inches thick.
