Hey, guys here's a story I had in the back of my head for a while. Used the horror tag, but also going to give a trigger warning (though personally, I don't believe there's anything too bad). Hope you enjoy it!
My white whale hid amongst a sea of unfamiliar faces. That was kind of funny with this being a reunion and all. Music and laughter filled the air. Where was he? I was more nervous than I'd been in years. It had been a long time since I found myself surrounded by so many heroes. Of course, I'd known that UA's 10 Year Reunion was going to be packed to the brim with some of Japan's top heroes, but being proven right failed to console my worries.
"Uraraka!"
My hopes soared as green hair suddenly flashed across my vision. They were quickly dashed when the source of the voice was revealed to be a lady. One with an oddly large mouth at that. This girl looked very familiar.
It took a moment to realize she had been speaking to me. Tsu, that was her name. She had certainly grown up a lot since I'd last seen her. I was never one to forget a face though, they were something of a specialty of mine. Besides, we had been friends once after all. That had felt like a lifetime ago. More simple times, happier as well.
I tried to smile without showing off too much teeth. "Tsu!"
The green-haired girl closed the distance between us and caught me in a tight embrace. The contact was oddly comforting. It felt like years since I'd last been hugged. We broke apart after a few seconds, there was a lingering scent that reminded me of the sea.
"It's great to see you, it's been much too long. You weren't answering your phone this last week, I was worried you weren't going to come."
"Of course I was coming silly, how was I going to see everyone again? Have you seen Izuku anywhere?"
That was enough of the pleasantries, I was a girl on a mission. Catching up with old friends would have to wait for a little. Izuku had been my sole reason for coming here tonight in the first place. For years and years, I've waited for these feelings to disappear to no avail. That fluffy-headed hero filled my thoughts and dreams. It was love, plain and simple. This reunion was the perfect opportunity to act on those feelings. Once upon a time I had put these feelings on the back burner and focused on things that I thought were more important. Never again. I've learned that you can't take those around you for granted. One day they're there, the next they could be taken from you. If I was forced to wait a minute longer then I'd end up tearing my own hair out.
Tsu looked a little hurt to be dismissed so rapidly, but that was something I'd have to fix another time.
"Since when have you called him Izuku?" She questioned.
A moment of panic overtook me, was Izuku the wrong name to use?
"Oh, you know how close we used to be. I guess I only called him that when we were alone though. Anyway, have you seen him around?"
The girl seemed to chew on my words for a moment before pointing to a far corner of the gym. "I saw him over there not too long ago." Tsu's hand fell onto my shoulder. "Hey, are you feeling alright?" She asked softly.
I shook myself out of her grip and smiled once more, this time for real. "Oh, I will be."
Without another word, I raced off in the direction that Tsu had indicated. Excitement coursed through me so powerful and foreign that I felt as if I was going to burst. My feet slapped loudly against the gym's wooden floor as I weaved through groups of dancing alumni. Why did there have to be so many people? If this had been only for UA's hero course everything would have been much easier.
