...

"good afternoon, niki!"

tubbo was pressed fimly against ranboos side. the endermans tail was wrapped around the shyer boy's waist in a protective manner, watching tommy greet the pink haired woman who ran the bakery area in philza's general store. it was a lovely shopping day, and tommy insisted on going to the shop earlier then usual.

"good afternoon to you as well, tommy! and its always a pleasure seeing you two as well," niki gestured towards ranboo and tubbo, presenting a warm smile. "so! the usual? or are you three here to buy some of the bread i made last time you visited the shop?" her head was propped on her flour covered hands, head tilted slightly in question.

tommy brought himself down to tubbo's level a little bit, knowing full well the brunette wouldnt look anywhere but down at the ground. "tubs, do you want the new bread? i dont recall you saying anything about it when we tried it the other week." the blonde carefully asked, not wanting to startle his anxious friend.

tubbo nodded, he wanted the new bread. he had liked it a lot.

"that will be a yes then, niki! how much?" tommy questioned, beginning to shuffle through his wallet for some coins. while he was doing that, tubbo released the grip he had on ranboo. he felt like a child with the way he usually acted in the shop. he wanted to act properly and face his fear of the public!

ranboo felt the warmth of the smaller leave him, looking down. his head tilted in confusion. "tubbo? you alright?" he asked. the brunette simply shrugged, and began wandering off. his cane no longer dragged behind him, and instead began helping him maneuver his way around shelves and other people. ranboo simply stared, and turned back to tommy. he was too busy discussing prices with niki to notice the highland cow walking off.

...

tubbo lifted his head, looking around. signs were blurred, making them impossible to read. tubbo sighed, taking a turn to an aisle he wasnt even sure had in it. most likely different foods, as the area smelt fresh and sort-of like tommy's garden. he got closer to a shelf, taking a single apple for himself. he'd sneak it in the bags to purchase it without letting tommy know. he didnt like buying fruit from the store, especially since the blonde had a literal garden.

as the brunette walked with the apple in hand, he didnt seem to notice a lady standing in the same aisle. tubbo crashed into the woman's basket, cane slipping from his grasp and apple rolling away. a feeling of panic rushed through his body, crouching to the ground so he could feel for his cane.

"hey! watch where you're--" the woman snapped, noticing the wooden cane. tubbo was desperately feeling for it, fingers grazing it from just a few centimeters away. quickly, he snatched it and scrambled back onto his hoof-like feet. the brunette fixed his posture, keeping his cane firmly standing in front of him.
