How they met?!

Some time ago there was a girl, a daughter of a count. But she was very sickly to the point that she was bedridden. She spent her days lying in bed waiting for her time. But, one day she heard screams and saw fire outside her window. She knew that this day would come. She Slowly got out of bed and stumbled to the window. She saw people running and screaming. People were getting chased and killed in front of the mansion. She knew in time that she was going to be next.

She then stumbled to the door and fell. She had no strength to walk by herself. As she tried to get back up her door swung open. It was her maid Cinthia. the only person in the whole mansion who was nice to her. Cinthia rushed to her in a hurry.

Cinthia worriedly yelled " Miss! What are you doing on the floor!

We must go, they will come soon! We must hurry and get you out of

here!"

Cinthia gently Helped her up and in a hurry left the room. They quickly walked to a room nearby. She was confused on why Cinthia would bring her here? but then Cinthia opened a secret door that led to a passageway. Then they started walking slowly down the softly lit tunnel. As they walked down they heard the footsteps of the troops that invaded the mansion. She was kind of scared of being found. Cinthia was also scared but knew she had to be strong for the miss. After walking for a few minutes they stopped for a small break.

Cinthia quietly asked " Are you doing ok, miss?"

She quietly nodded and tugged on Cinthia's sleeve. Cinthia nodded and took out a small bottle. She then gave it to me.

She then said " I know that you want me to call you by your name but it's really hard. But, if the miss wants I will. But first take your medicine Miss

Lilly."

Lilly softly gigged and grabbed the bottle from Cinthia's and took a sip out of it. Lilly then heard something in the distance. They both looked back from the direction they came. And in the dark abbess they saw a light appear. The only people Cinthia had knowledge of were the two other maids and the count! Cinthia grabbed Lilly and started moving quickly away from the light. She knew that the count and the maid were captured already. So that would mean that they gave the information to the troops to come and find them! Lilly was getting tired very quickly. She knew that she would make it. Lilly stopped and pushed Cinthia away. Cinthia didn't want to leave Miss Lilly behind.

Cinthia cried "Please miss, we're almost there! We can make it!"

Lilly shook her head and smiled. Lilly wanted Cinthia to live and not risk her life for someone who is already on death's door. Cinthia shook her head and grabbed Miss Lilly and shielded her. The light and footsteps got closer.

Then a voice erupted "We found her! Capture them!"

Then a man appeared in front of them and grabbed them harshly. Lilly didn't fight back because she had no strength to do so. But, Cinthia fought back a little scream at them to not hurt Miss Lilly. The man took them back to the mansion and escorted them to the throne room. Lilly knew what they were about to see. As they entered the throne room they saw the decapitated heads of the count, countess, and her older brother. Lilly is fazed by the scene but she keeps her cool. They walked her to the and made her get on her knees. Then a man with a bloody sword walks toward her. All she saw was the boots and blood stained sword.

Then a man said "Raise your head so I can see your face."

Lilly slowly raised her head. She saw a man covered with blood looking down at Lilly with an angered look on his face. As they looked at each other the man put the tip of his sword under Lilly's neck.

He spoke with a stern voice "You know how much trouble I had to go

through to try to find you? You snuck away into a secret tunnel to get

away. But, your sorry excuse of a father gave that information to me

It was very easy for me. And you didn't get that far at that? Why didn't you

take the chance to get as far away as you could?"

Lilly looked away in embarrassment. She knew that she wouldn't be able to get too far in her condition. Her body is very frail and weak so it's impossible to get too far.

Cinthia's voice erupted from across the room "My miss did her best!

She pushed her body to the limit even told me to leave her behind

knowing that she is too weak to go that far!"

A man throws Cinthia to the ground to shut her up. Lilly saw it a jolted back shaking her head trying to say it as tears started to fall down her face. The man was surprised by the reaction and walked toward Cinthia and kneeled down.

He then spoke "What do you mean by that? Is something wrong with the girl?"

Cinthia replied " Yes, Miss Lilly is very sick to the point she was bed ridden! Miss Lilly is a very nice lady! She would never hurt anyone and she was never involved with the lord's business!"

The man looked back at Lilly and then looked at Cinthia. Then in a stern voice said "So the lady is sickly and has no knowledge of what the count has done? So she is just a doll that has been thrown aside? How interesting."

He then got up and walked back to Lilly and tilted her head up so she was looking at him face to face. He stares straight into Lily's eyes. He then noticed that her eyes are the color of a blood red ruby. He then lets go and stands up.

Then he loudly proclaimed "My name is Rinehart Vulturine! I am the duke of the Vulturine estate! Now I am the duke of this estate! If anyone objects to this, make it known now!" A quiet echo crosses the room "Then for now Miss Lilly McGregor will be under my protection. Does anyone have any objections?"

Silence spread through the room till a voice broke the silence.

The voice spoke in a mean tone "I have an objection to that. Why do you want to protect a sorry excuse for a countess? She didn't try to face you, she ran off like a coward."

Duke Rinehart looked at the maid who spoke and walked to her with a surprised look. Then he grabbed her by the hair and smashed her face into the ground. He chuckled at the maids face. As blood was dripping down her face.

Duke Rinehart spoke through his laughter and said "I bet you're one of the maids that mistreated Miss Lilly. And why should I believe you who didn't even have the guts to speak up when I was talking badly to miss Lilly? You are a sorry excuse for a maid. How can anyone be happy with your ugly face around?"

And with that remark The duke lifted his sword and chopped the maids head off with no hesitation. As with that the room became quiet and there were no more objections. As the day went on everyone started to clean and do paperwork for the new lord of the land. While in a room the duke ordered a doctor to come see Miss Lilly. The doctor examined Lilly and then gave the report to Duke Rinehart.

The doctor softly stuttered "M-My lord from what I can see the miss has been drinking small amounts of p-poison for a long period of t-time."

The duke jumped and screamed "What do mean she has been taking poison! And who was poisoning her!"

The doctor jumped back and stuttered "It c-could be that the past l-lord was p-poisoning her? I-I heard that his other daughter w-was his favorite. And he t-thought that M-miss Lilly was a curse."

The duke calmed himself and sat back down. Then said "Is it possible to cure her or is it too late?"

The doctor stuttered again "S-she can be cured b-but it will take some time for her to recover. Thankfully y-you caught it in t-time."

The duke smiled and said "Then let's get started shall we?"
