Season 2, Episode 19 - What Have I Done To Deserve This

Carolina's POV:

"Babe you really gotta get to work." Jason told me,

"But you have the day off and I cant be bothered to move from this couch. Do you know how comfy our couch is?" I ask tilting my head backwards to see him, he walked over to me and looked down at me,

"Care, darling, go save lives, go kick ass at the hospital." I rolled my eyes at him and stood up, he threw me my keys and rushed me out the door, "Bye have a great day."

"Dude, why you rushing me. What you got a secret girlfriend coming over?" I laughed at him, his eyes widened the smallest fraction but then he just shook his head laughing at me,

"People's lives aren't going to wait for you to save them." I rolled my eyes,

"Okay whatever, I'm leaving okay? Bye." I said dragging out the 'bye' and then kissing his cheek, walking out. I closed the door behind me and mentally prepared myself for the day. I walked down the stair of our apartment building. When I walked out the main door I ran into a woman, "Crap, I am so sorry. I totally wasn't looking where I was going." I apologise to the woman in front of me,

"No, no it's fine I wasn't looking either." She laughed lightly,

"Um, I'm Carolina, do you live here?" I ask her raising my hand for her to shake,

"Allison and no I'm visiting. Wow, can I just say, that is an absolutely gorgeous ring." We smiled at each other,

"Thank you, um it was lovely to meet you but I really have to go, I'm late for work. I hope to see you around." I smiled,

"Yeah you too, have good day." She smiled back and we both went our separate ways. I got in my car and I drove to work and changed into my scrubs, ready to go and see my first patient, a young boy called Shawn.

I'm stood in the patient's room with Derek as Shawn has a head injury. Shawn is holding a bucket and his parents Rick and Michael are standing with him at his bedside.

"Do you need to throw up again?" Rick asked his son, clearly worried about him,

"No." Shawn sighed,

"Cause there's no shame in needing to throw up, is there Dr Robbins?" Rick looked at me,

"Of course not, it's completely natural after an incident like yours Shawn." I shook my head and smiled kindly at the young boy laying in the bed.

"Dad I don't need to throw up."

"Shawn Begleiter. 11 years old. In for intractable vomiting after a minor head injury." Alex presented the case once we were all in the room and ready,

"Oh I wouldn't exactly say minor." Rick muttered,

"He was hit in the head with a baseball." Michael, his other dad, told us.

"Yeah playing first and this little dolt hairy dopple hammer hits the line-diver out of nowhere and Shawn wasn't looking and... You know this is my fault. I knew I shouldn't have let him play little league. It's clearly a dangerous sport!" Rick rants while me and Derek check the boys eyes,

"Rick, let's let the doctors talk." Michael tells his husband,

"They wanna know what happened. Michael, I'm telling them what happened."

"Shawn's gonna be ok." Michael comforts him but then looks to Derek and I with a worried face, "Right?"

"Yeah we have to keep a close eye on him." Rick nods at Derek's answer, liking what he said, "Okay recommendations?" Derek asks the interns,
