Chapter 2
Day 4 since The Fall
(The opening shot shows two seventeen-year-olds, a boy and a girl, deep in the woods at night with a tent, waiting by a fire as they watch the rabbit they found earlier cook.)
(The Girl looks out into the forest, staring at the endless stretch of forest, oak trees around every corner of the woods, owls hooting far off in the distance, crickets chirping, and only a few bodies littering this part of the forest. No infected people though. In a way, this comforted the Girl, knowing currently there are no dangers out there. Nothing wanting to hurt her. "How long would it stay like this?" She thought to herself.)
(The Boy looks at a pistol he is holding. Four days ago, he never knew how to use one, he never actually saw one. And in four days, he has become accustomed to it, using it daily, it's saved him more than once. The view of the forest, disturbed him, seeing how deep the forest goes, the littered bodies, and no infected people. All of this made him more cautious than ever, because of the fear of what might be out there.)
(The Boy looks at the Girl, with sadness)
Boy-(Sad) I don't think James is coming back, Olivia.
Olivia- We don't know that for certain.
Boy-(Sad) It's been two days!
(Olivia sighs)
Olivia-(Sad) You don't think James is dead do you, Noah?
Noah- I'm not sure. There are hundreds of possibilities of what could have happened.
(Noah's stomach begins to growl)
Noah- Fuck, I'm starving. Is that rabbit almost done?
Olivia- Yeah, just a little bit longer. We're gonna have to split it again tonight.
Noah-(Sad) Damn. (Chuckles) After finals, I don't know what I would do to have that pizza party we were promised last week.
(Olivia laughs)
Olivia- That seems so long ago. (Chuckles) Yeah, I would also probably do anything for just a slice of pepperoni pizza, not even that just a bite. Just one last time. I could die happy then.
(Noah chuckles)
(The two stop talking, Noah trying to figure out what to say. Each day that went by, it has grown harder and harder to talk to each other, not knowing what to talk about)
Noah- We'll wait tonight, and if he's not here first thing in the morning, we leave. I'm tired of waiting, we need to get out of these woods, it's not safe here.
Olivia-(Curious) And then what? Do we just keep going from place to place hoping to find something to keep us going? We need a plan.
Noah- Well, my best bet is, we get out onto the water with a boat.
(Olivia laughs at the idea)
Olivia- (Laughing) A boat? Really? How the fuck are we gonna find a boat?
Noah-(Chuckle) Oh, don't worry, we'll find one.
Olivia- (Laughing) And you're gonna be the captain?
(Noah leans in closer to Olivia)
Noah- Yes, ma'am.
(Noah and Olivia kiss, for what seem to be an eternity, yet it is only a few seconds)
Olivia- (Laughing) You're such a dork.
(Noah smiles)
