Rolling clouds, climbing trees that reached higher than 20 mountains the size of Mount Everest. A loud ringing sound pulled her away from her light-weighted dream and left her lying awake drowsily on her bed. She moaned out of frustration and pulled her arm from underneath her warm covers.
"What time is it?" She grouched.
"Up, now." Her mother walked away from the doorway, muting her alarm.
Hae rose from her covers and stretched her arms, then reached for her phone. A few pictures from Instagram, a message from Mark, two likes on tiktok, and- a message from Mark! She happily opened her messages and read his message.
6:48am, Monday morning
U up?
yeah
wanna call?
shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhoree.
Calling Mark 7:02am
"Are you excited?" He asked.
"Wait- uh, for.. what?" She questioned.
"Um, the first day of school?"
She was quiet for a second.
"Huh?" She whispered as she got up from her bed, and sat at her vanity looking into her mirror, confused.
"You know, the first day of 7th grade. Duh. What are you gonna wear? Wait- don't tell me you forgot to get an outfit out-" He trailed off talking about
Hae sat and traced her memory. Wait, it is Monday. Monday August 15th. She immediately sat up and zoomed to her closet.
"And they are selling chocolate on Fri-" Mark stopped and listened into the phone as he heard her chair nearly tumble over. "Hae?"
"I didn't pick out any clothes!" She called. "I. DON'T. KNOW. WHAT. TO. WEAR."
There was a few quiet minutes, you heard a clang of hangers and drawers shutting as Hae went around her room searching for something to wear. Finally, she found a light-pink cropped jacket, a bit worn to where you could see the stressed bits in the clothing. A black tank-top, and high-waisted jeans with a thin dark brown braided belt. She put on the outfit and took a quick photo, her hair still messy.
"That's a nice outfit." He commented.
She giggled quietly, and she wasn't sure Mark heard or not, but if he did he ignored it.
"Thanks. I kinda just put it together."
"Oh!" Mark gasped. "I got a new pair of kicks last week!"
Mark sent her a photo of his new shoes. They were black with white soles and accents of orange and purple. They looked so neat and clean. Hae had lots of new clothes and neat items, but she loved his new shoes. They looked so unique and she watched in awe as he sent her a video of him tieing his shoes. Even though she knew Mark wasn't intrested in her, she still liked to semi-stalk his socials sometimes because she just couldn't get enough of his amazing photos and dancing tiktoks.
"That's them." He added after a few moments of silence.
"I like them. I really like them!" She could feel his smile even though they weren't on facetime.
"The bus is down the street, I'll see you in a min!" He called.
"Ok, cya in a sec," She answered, and hung up.
Call ended with Mark 7:35am
Hae quickly got up from her vanity again and stuffed all her supplies in her backpack, including her phone, which she realised was now somehow at 23%. She put her socks and shoes on, straightened her hair, and grabbed her lunch box from the kitchen. Just in time, the bus pulled down into her street and awaited at the end of the sidewalk from the culdesac.
