"Molto tempo non vedi, Italia" [long time no see, Italy]

I sniffed the air that was coming from here. The ambience is really different from the Philippines, but I missed how cozy it is here.

“Shaniiice!” I looked around after hearing a familiar voice.

“Cass?” my eyes encircled at the mere sight of her. She smiled widely and turned around as if she’s flexing her outfit. I just smirked and ran towards her direction to give her an embrace.

“Namiss kita, gaga!” she whispered in my ear. I just chuckled and kissed her cheeks from left to right.

“Missed you too.” I whispered, her eyes squinted while looking at my puffy eyes.

“You cried?” she asked, I chuckled softly and shook my head.

“I am just lacking sleep. I was too excited after knowing that I will stay here again.” I lied,

After what happened last night, Mom immediately booked a flight for me and the airplane flew at 9 am PST yesterday in the Philippines and I just arrived here at 11 am CET.

“You’re seriously thinking that I am an idiot like you.” Cass rolled her eyes. “Let’s grab a lunch? You have so many things to tell me.”

Mom and Dad stayed in the Philippines to fix the papers and what they’re about to leave. I think after a few weeks or a month, they will be here too. Shaun isn’t sure when he will come here. Because of his injury, he’s still unable to leave the country for the meantime. And besides, he will take licensure examination to be a licensed dentist.

I left there without him uttering a single word, but I think Shaun and Lauren really broke up. Nakaka-guilty, but that was the truth we all must face. Though we have no confirmation from Mom and Dad, I know it’s the truth. There is evidence.

I lived alone in our old house here that was taken care of by Cassandra's family when we were gone. I was living peacefully, buying supplies for my living, going outside to take a walk, cleaning the huge house, hanging out with my high school friends. It was fun. But this happened…

“Gabi na po nang mapansin naming hindi lumalabas ng room si Szhan, that was so unusual kasi siya ‘yong nag-aya sa amin na mag-inom sa club pagsapit ng 6. Tapos isa pa, Szhan isn’t the type of person who would lock herself in a room kaya pinilit na naming buksan. And we got surprised kasi ito ang bumungad sa amin.”

I was shaking the whole time while watching the local news in Philippines through my phone. Para akong binuhusan ng sandamakmak na yelo at tubig sa kinauupuan ko.

“Sinasabing ang babaeng si Szhanicka Shairen Fortaleza ay nagtangkang magpakamatay at lunurin ang sarili sa Jacuzzi na nasa loob lang din ng hotel room. Iniimbestigahan pa ng pulisya kung totoong suicide nga ba ang nangyari. Samantalang sinusubaybayan ng mga doctor ang kalagayan niya sa ngayon.”

I immediately sent a message to Cass, commanding her to get a ticket for me. Tinawagan ko na rin si Mom pero out of reach, maging si Dad ay hindi ko ma-contact. Nahihiya naman akong mag-reach out sa mga kaibigan ko dahil umalis ako nang walang paalam sa kanila. So that left me with no choice but to contact my brother instead. Ilang rings pa lang ay sinagot niya na.
