The first month of being the new Master of Fairy Tail was difficult for Alex. There was the paperwork, talking to the Council, writing apologies for the destruction caused by Team Natsu before they disappeared, organizing the office, and even more paperwork. And it certainly didn't help that her housemates continued to call her Master even though she told them at least once a day not to call her that.

Yes, being a new Master was a headache for Alex. And it didn't help that she now had a better connection with Hotaru, the Demon living in her soul. Because now, she had to deal with the Demon's thoughts on how she should be doing things.

Alex sighed and looked at the paper she was supposed to be signing. "For the hundredth time, I am not going to fry the Council just because they're annoying."

"Oh, come on," Hotaru insisted. "They bother Fairy Tail more than any other guild. They deserve to be shot full of lightning."

"I'm not saying you're wrong," Alex rolled her eyes. "But it wouldn't look perfect for Fairy Tail if their Master goes to jail so soon after being appointed."

"So you're saying you'll do it in a couple of years?"Alex could feel the Demon smirking.

"I'm saying I might consider it." Alex looked up when someone knocked on her office door. "Come on in."

"They say talking to oneself is one of the first signs of insanity," Erik said, walking in. He smirked. "That Demon of yours annoying you yet?"

"Twerp." Alex smiled. "Hey, Erik. Is everything alright? How was the job?"

Erik leaned against the door. "It wasn't bad. Pretty easy with Richard and Sawyer." He narrowed his eyes and stared at her. "Wanna tell me why you haven't been back at the house in a week?"

Alex grimaced and rubbed the back of her neck. "Has it been that long?"

Eric growled. "Your sister Amber mentioned it. You know you need to leave this office sometime."

"I do!" Alex insisted. "I just got busy with these papers."

"That's a bullshit excuse, and you know it," Erik snapped. "From now on, one of us is going to make sure you get home after the sun sets. You know as well as I do that too much paperwork is going to fry your brain."

Alex sighed and stood up. "Don't worry, Erik. I finally got all caught up with the paperwork Master Makarov had left behind, so I should only have to sign things about once a week. So I'll be getting home and to bed at a decent hour from now on."

Erik huffed and crossed his arms. "Uh-huh." He looked to the side. "Anyway, Jellal brought some people he wanted you to talk to."

"Send them in then," Alex smiled. "I'll be happy to talk to them."

"Maybe go home and take a shower first," Erik deadpanned. "I don't need my Dragon senses to tell me you sorely need one."

Alex grinned sheepishly. "Good idea." An hour later, Alex found herself staring at two former members of the Grimoire Heart Guild. "I gotta say, when Erik said Jellal brought some people to talk to me, I wasn't expecting you two."

Ultear smiled sheepishly as she and Meredy stood in front of Alex. "We weren't planning on coming here if I'm honest." She put a hand around Meredy's shoulders. "We were trying to figure out what to do and ran into Jellal." She gestured to the blue-haired man standing in the corner. "He suggested we come here and try to get a fresh start. Said you helped give him and some others a chance to pay for the crimes they did without going to jail, and you would be able to do the same thing for us."
