My Harry Potter One Shots

Lily and James

*Lilys POV*

"James would you stop that?" I said for the 5th time.

James looks at me, confused. "Stop what?"

"Your making it rain inside the bathroom. There's already a great big puddle of water on the floor that can't be cleaned up until you stop making it rain." I said as I laid my wand in its usual place, write beside my writing table. I like to sit there when James is at work and write.

James runs a hand through his hair and plumps down on the couch. "Sorry Lils, I'm just feeling nervous."

"Nervous for what?" I asked as I sat down beside him. He gave me a peck on the cheek and leaned back against the couch.

"Something just feels wrong to me. Like something could go badly wrong. You know he's looking for us." he said gravely.

My heart beat quickened at his words. I was scared. Scared for myself and James. And most definitely my son, Harry.

"But Dumbledore says were safe..." I trailed off my sentence and looked at him, worried.

"We are Lils. Don't worry. Peter should be here any minute. We trust him. He wouldnt have the guts to tell anyone anyways."

We both looked up as we heard a cry from upstairs. James looks at me and smiles. "Harry doesn't like sleeping, does he?"

I shake my head as I get up. We both head to the stairs and up to Harry's room.

I realized I'd forgotten Harry's bottle of milk downstairs so I turned back to James.

"Could you go grab Harry's milk?"

"Anything for you, my dear." he says as he drops his wand on the nearest chair and proceeds to walk down the stairs. He stops short as you can feel the house slightly shaking.

"What..?" I said as I heard the front door opening not so quietly.

James eyes go wide as he realizes what's happening. "Run! I'll hold him off..."

"James! No.." I scream but am to late. I see a green light flash and hear his body fall to the floor. "Noo!"

With tears streaming down my face I slam and lock the door, trying to buy me time. Harry starts crying again, seeing the tears on my face.

"Harry..."

"Be strong Harry. Momma loves you..."

I pick Harry up and give him a hug. Just then the door flies open and I lay Harry down and turn to face him.

"Step aside foolish girl" his voice high, penetrates my ears.

"No! Take me! He's just a baby!" I scream standing in front of Harry, protecting him as best as I could.

"I said step aside!" his voice is louder this time and I try my best not to flinch. With tears still streaming down my face, I reach for the wand James had left on the chair.

But before I could reach I heard the words echoing around the house that stopped the living beat of my heart inside my chest.

"Avada Kedavra."

*Snapes POV*

The house is quiet as I stand and look at the ruins of the house. The first words that come to my mind is..I'm to late.

I take off at a run and barge my way into the house and up the stairs. My eyes meet the dead ones of James Potter, fear still etched across his face.

I lean beside him and take off his glasses. Oh how I had always hated James. Arragant human he was. And now..dead.

"I'm sorry James." my voice is low as a whisper and tears reached my eyes. I saw a flicker of a movement and I looked up to see Lily.

I move as fast as I can to get to her. Lily. Dead. My first real friend. Dead.  I didn't even glance at the little boy sitting in the crib, tear stains on his cheeks.

I looked instead at Lily. Her green eyes will never shine again. The tears flow freely as I hold her. I never got to tell her. I should have done something to protect them.

I had known myself that Peter was working for The Dark Lord. I, myself, was working for him. But I would have never let them die. I would have done everything in my will to save them.

"Lily." I whispered.

I would never hear her beautiful voice again.
