If you crossed the street from the general store you would find a flickering lamp post, a drunk homeless man, and a crumbling brick apartment.  Nobody was pleasent in that place, men shouting, kids crying, and the building crumbling under you with time, only people who were stuck with no other choice lived here.  Like the two girls in apartment 28.

Nur woke up in the top bunk of her bed and accidentally hit her head on the ceiling.  She rubbed her head trying to get rid of the pain before climbing down the ladder, her sister was snoring softly.  She wrote a note in her very untidy scrawl that read,

Went to work.  Breakfast is in the fridge, be back soon!

She looked outside and groaned, realizing that it was raining, she got a striped black and white turtleneck sweater, a black skirt, a white beanie, fishnets that only went up to her knees that made the scars around her knees look like part of the stockings, and her Starbucks apron.  She went into the bathroom and glared at her ugly complexion, she had gray sickly looking skin on her face, jutted out ribs, her back was slightly hunched, her hair was stick straight, she had scars on her wrists and neck, and she had small black horns.  She got out her concealer and rubbed it on her gray skin making her face look healthy, after putting on many other cosmetics and curling her hair she made her demonic-looking face look human-like.  After putting on clothes and her heating bracelet (she was still getting used to Earth's cold weather) she went downstairs to grab her rainboots and umbrella before walking to work.

She ran into work as fast as she could as she was late.  An older lady yelled at her, "Where in the world were you!"  She sneered back, "I'm only a minute late chill out."  The lady crossed her arms, "Alright, go to the pantry to get some beans, after that your working at the drive-thru."  She nodded and went past the front desk and into the kitchens, barely anybody noticed her as she walked towards the black door labeled, "Storage."  She opened the door and stopped in her tracks at the sight, a dragon was licking up a puddle of creamer that fell on the floor.  She was used to creatures like this, she only ran away from Hell last year, but she thought she left all of it behind.

The monster got closer to her and started sniffing her, she remembered having a pet dragon back home.  The dragon stopped smelling her and stood up trying to look threatening, this didn't faze Nur though.  She smiled and asked, "Are you hungry?"  The dragon just looked at her, she continued, "I'll get you food as soon as I get these beans to Sheila."  She picked up a blue bag and ran back towards the desk, the woman snatched them out of her hand, "What took you so long child?"  She looked down, "I'm sorry ma'am there was a spill I had to clean up."  She nodded, "Get to the window."  She ran off to the window but grabbed a random worker's sub and headed towards the pantry.  She opened the door and smiled at the creature who looked at the wrapped sandwich in her hand, she opened the wrapper and said, "It won't be much, but it's something."  She got on a stool and held the sandwich to the dragon's mouth cautiously.  It looked at it from side to side before taking it and chomping it down with much relish.  She realized how hungry it must have been.  Its tail was swinging against the metal shelves causing everything to fall over onto the ground, Nur closed her eyes bracingly and inhaled through her nose.  The dragon poked her with her nose causing her to smile, the dragon then started trying to open the door with its nose, Nur said, "Let me help you with that."  She walked over and held the door open for the kind creature.  The dragon looked from side to side before stepping out and grabbing Nur by her sweater and swing her on its back.  She gasped as the dragon took off to the woods trying to hold on to the mane of the dragon's lion head.  As they went through the woods she felt pine cones scraping her knees and the golden light from above the treetops.  They reached a damp, cold, hard cave, and Nur was set down gently on the floor as the dragon darted off up a tree.  She waited a few moments before it came back with a dead goose in it's mouth looking expectantly at her.  She smiled and took it from the dragon, she had always eaten raw meat back at home, I smiled, "Thank you, I will take this home for me and my sister to eat."
