POV: Harper
"Can I just come to work with you? I'll sit quietly in the corner." I begged Lauren as I sat on the sink and watched her put her makeup on as she did every morning before heading to work.
"One, you can't sit somewhere quietly for more than five minutes, and two, I have three meetings today. If you are sitting in my office for all three it's going to draw unwanted attention." Lauren finished her eyeliner in one swipe before looking over at me.
"Who are they going to complain to? Your desk? Max? You're the boss of the bosses." I huffed and crossed my arms.
"The media." Lauren answered without hesitation.
"Please." I stuck my bottom lip out. "It gets boring and lonely here all day, and I'm already ready to go."
"You can always go to your grandparents' house and hangout." Lauren offered with a quirked brow.
"All they'd do is try to feed me and then ask me a million questions about modeling because they don't really understand what I do." I rested my head against the mirror to be more dramatic.
"Because they love you." Lauren gave me a look.
"I get that, and I appreciate their love, but a million questions on how I walk up and down a stage and make millions of dollars doing it isn't something that I really want to do for eight hours."
"I'm actually in the office till six today, so I wouldn't get back to pick you up till sometime around seven." Lauren sucked her lips in, knowing it's going to be a hard no from me.
"I'm not going to be there all day." I left no room for argument.
"You can go to work with your dad." She went to her closet to slide a red pair of heels on to perfectly contrast the white pant suit.
"And watch him do paperwork all day? No thank you."
"What do you think I do all day?" She stood in between my legs and rested her hands on my knees.
"Some paperwork, some meetings, lunch break, get mad at people, work on your articles, more being mad at people..." I listed off and she rolled her eyes before pecking my lips once quickly.
"Harp, although I'd love for you to come with me, you can't. I don't have anywhere I could send you during the meetings either because neither Max or Darius are there today." Lauren started to make her way out of the bathroom and I knew I only had ten more minutes before she left.
"I could hide."
"Hide where? The curtains? The bookshelves? No Harper." Lauren's tone turned a little more stern.
"Under your desk. Duh." I rolled my eyes at the obvious option.
"I can't have you under my desk during a meeting, Harp. I don't trust you not to mess with me."
"What if I promised to be quiet and not do anything?" I offered as I followed her closely down the steps.
"Yeah right." Lauren scoffed.
"I won't complain or argue on anything for the whole day if you let me come with you." I pleaded and she only grabbed an apple from the bowl in the kitchen.
"I'll think about it."
"Think about it? You leave in a few minutes." I glanced at the clock on the wall to see it almost reaching six in the morning. She always left on time in the mornings. Routine was big for her.
"If I let you come you better not complain about being bored, mess with me during my meetings, or make a peep when it's quiet time." Lauren started to give in and I smiled widely.
