"Leo there's no way we can afford this." Stacey scoffs.
"Well honestly we were hoping that you two would be willing to live rent free." Stacey laughs a short sarcastic laugh and I choke on my wine.
"No absolutely not. We can pay our own bills. We don't need anyone to wave our bills." She's angry and I glare at Raphael. His eyes are shut annoyed that Leo said it. So they talked about it those rich assholes! "We afford this apartment just fine. It may not be huge and gorgeous but it's ours! We work hard for it." Stacey huffs.
I start to eat my chili as Leo back pedals. "I know that you don't need that but I wanted the both of you to know that that was an option. But rental price we are going to offer to yall is $2400 a month."
Stacey laughs. "A piece? Ya we'll live with our tiny apartment."
He shakes his head. "No $2400 a month. The two of you would split it however you wanted to."
Stacey scoffs again. "Ha those apartments go for way more than that."
Leo nods. "You're right but it will get the both of you in a much better neighborhood. Also the both of you would be closer to your jobs and Andrea would be closer to the university. Plus you would be 2 blocks away from me and Andrea would be in the same building as Raphael just a few floors beneath him. Also the two people who set the rent are sitting in this room and we can make the rent whatever we want."
Stacey gawks at him. "You're seriously going to offer this to us? What if we break up with one of you or hell both of you?"
"Wouldn't effect anything. The numbers would be in a contract and once we all sign it's binding but I also have no intention of breaking up with you or letting you leave me." Leo is professional. This is his career selling expensive real estate to rich people who don't really need it.
Stacey purses her lips. "Ok Andy and I will talk about it but don't get your hopes up. It just means we'll talk about it. "
We spend the rest of dinner eating mostly in silence as Stacey shows me the pictures of this apartment they want us in. Once we're finished and I start gathering plates I hear my phone in my bedroom singing "Fireball". I choose to ignore it. A. Because Raphael is here and B. I'm about to wash dishes and C. I don't want to deal with this drama right now.
Stacey looks at me. "I'll start on them you go answer him."
I shake my head. "I can call him later."
Stacey frowns at me and nods to my room. "Answer him. He'll call you back every five minutes until you answer."
I huff and walk into my room. I notice Leo walk to the sink to help Stacey and I smile a little. On the last ring I answer. "Hey Miguel."
"Hey...you ok? You look upset?" He looks at me concerned.
I smile a little. He always knows. "I'm fine. Raphael is here can I call you back?"
Raphael voice booms softly behind me as my door clicks closed. "Don't hang up on my account."
I turn and find that Raphael has followed me into my room.
"Raphael." Miguel greets.
"Miguel." Raphael says behind me his hands now on my arms smoothing them.
"You're there on a school night. Be aware our girl likes her sleep so don't keep her up too late."
Raphael's voice slithers across me sending shivers down my spine. "Our girl?" He laughs. "It's not a late night visit. Leo wanted to run some things past the girls so Stacey made a dinner out of it. Rumor has it it's Andrea's famous chili?" Raphael's lips graze my kneck.
