"The challenges and changes you meet are, in effect, hand delivered to you by a generous, loving Universe for the purpose of making you stronger and wiser." -Chris Prentiss (The Laws of Love: Creating the Relationship of Your Dreams)

I was hopelessly staring at the huge signage in front of my desk since the time I arrived here. Hindi ko alam kung gaano na katagal but I am fully aware that it's been a long time. I heaved a sigh, a very deep sigh that could drown me in no time.

What happened yesterday brought me a sleepless night. Hindi ko maintindihan. All I can feel is anger and regret. I regret going to the park that day, I regret being so early, I regret coming, I regret waiting, I regret anticipating, I regret meeting him, I regret loving him.

But my regrets aren't necessary now that everything had happened all before.

"Hey!" my shoulders jerked upwards after being shocked when someone spoke behind me. I was surprised after seeing Belle, being earlier than her usual. She smirked and sat beside me. "Lalim, ah? Nag-away kayo ni Boss?" she asked, playing with the cigarette in her fingers. I smiled and shook my head. Napabuntong-hininga ako. "Nga pala, nag-message si Cassandra." She rolled her eyes.

I got surprised after Cassandra flew to the Australia to visit me, roon ko nakita ulit si Belle. And there, I known that they were cousins at kaya pala may aura si Belle na katulad ng kay Cass noong gumagawa kami ng thesis at group reports and projects ay dahil pala roon. Well, that's good to hear. I sometimes envy their cousinhood, they were solid. I remember Szhan and I being like that before.

"Umagang kay ganda ko!" Prima came with her neon green pantsuit. I rolled my eyes, mag-iingay na naman ito. "Alam niyo, may chika ako, ha? Balita niyo ba pagsasara ng Calbrins? Hindi pa naman sure kung permanent na 'yon pero sana ay temporary lang muna." My eyes widened a bit, surprised by the news. Prima got surprised too after seeing my reaction. "Gaga, hindi mo alam?!" she asked, pointing at me. I just shook my head and bit the tip of my thumb.

"Shit! Akala ko pa naman ay alam mo na!" she screamed.

Should I call Aizren? Sheez, of course I should. But he doesn't want to look pathetic, I know his ego. I've memorized it all.

"So, bakit ka malungkot kanina, ha? Ibig sabihin, hindi si Aizren ang dahilan o ang Calbrins?" Belle asked, I just ignored her and took my car keys and about to stand up but hinarangan nila akong dalawa. "Hindi ka pwedeng umalis, may trabaho tayo, Attorney. May client ka rin this morning, 'di ba?" I heaved a sigh. I shook my head and stood up again.

"At least let me call him." tanging nasabi ko at naglakad palabas ng firm. The guard smiled at me and opened the door for me, I thanked him and immediately went to the car park. I dialed Aizren's number, it took a few seconds before he finally answered.

"Hello? Why are you calling?" he asked, his voice is the usual cold and husky.

"Do you want to drink later?" I asked,

It took him seconds, but he didn't answer. I could hear his heavy breaths on the other line, sign that he's stressed out. I heard him heaving a sigh after.

"Sure, where?" he asked. I heard her chuckle.

"Kahit sa condo na lang, hassle kung sa bar. We can't handle ourselves." I answered and looked at my watch. I still have some clients that will come sooner. I should be ready now, but I couldn't hang the call. I know he needs me.
