Chapter 48: Reunion

The weekdays passed by quickly as I started getting busier. And now's Saturday, finally, after years, I would see my friends... the friends that I abandoned,

Today will be the fitting of our gowns and suits for Ard and Amy's wedding. We decided to see each other in the Tita Shanty's restaurant. I was here, but I did not get out of my car. I am too nervous; I am ashamed of facing them. Where do I get the guts to face them despite what I've done before?

I heaved a sigh, I leaned my head on the steering wheel but I almost cursed when I accidentally blew the horn.

"Parang tanga!" I exclaimed. I saw how the gray Maserati MC20 in front of me moved forward. I shook my head in annoyance and shame.

"Shanice?" I almost jumped off my seat when someone knocked on the tinted window beside me. I muttered a curse after seeing Aizren. Damn! Kilalang-kilala ako!

But I think this is better, having someone who can be with me while going inside.

I opened the door, gumilid siya para hindi matamaan. I flashed a genuine smile and held on his arm.

"Sinu-sino na ang mga nariyan?" I asked, trying to sight them. Until now kinakabahan ako,

"Hmm, your hands are cold." He took my hands and caged them inside his warm hands. Then he smiled a bit, "They are all here, ikaw na lang hinihintay." He answered my question. My forehead immediately creased. I looked at my digital watch and saw that it was only 11:55. I am five minutes ahead.

"Gago, seryoso?" I asked, looking at him with slightly widened eyes. He raised his brows immediately.

"I said don't cuss." He warned me like a guidance counselor. I smiled at him cutely and even made my small eyes smaller.

"Fuck you, boss." I whispered, which made him throw a glare on me. I just laughed at his reaction. "Joke lang, gumagwapo ka masyado kapag galit." I even poked his cheek.

"Then I should be mad more often, what do you think?" I laughed and shrugged. I held on his shoulder again but mabilis na napabitaw nang bumusina ang kotse sa harapan namin. I tried looking at the side mirror but I only see sunglasses. Ni hindi ko alam kung babae ba ang driver o hindi. And I shouldn't care. "Let's go inside?" he asked, I nodded. Hindi na ako muling kumapit sa braso niya. He's wearing a red button-down polo tucked inside his navy blue pants. He looks so handsome today and everyday.

"Hey, where's Ardent?" Aizren asked loudly as soon as we entered.

And there, I saw our friends---looking on us.

I immediately hid myself behind Aizren when I saw how they looked at us. Tanging si Kali lang ang nakangiti. The rest were serious.

Some were already here, sina Kali, Cendrix, Lav, Kheiro, Mattheo, Kia, Nash, Neo, some unknown faces and the bride and groom.

I tried not to shake when Amy and Ard stood up to pull me in a hug. Bahagya akong napangiti at tinapik sila sa likod.

"Thank you for coming, Shanice." Ard said, I smiled at him and nodded.

"Shanice?'' That was Tita Shanty. My eyes slightly widened. Hers too, she immediately ran to hug me. Napangiti ako roon at niyakap din siya. "Gosh, I missed you! Pati sina Shanel at Shaun!" she broke the hug, I saw how her tears pooled in her eyes. "Look at you, you got prettier!"

"Tita, I missed you too." I slightly wiped the small amount of tears in my eyes. She chuckled and held my hands.

"You're already a successful lawyer! How I wish my friend became successful too." She said and wiped her own tears. Nagtaka ako roon sa sinabi niya pero hindi ko ipinahalata ang pagtataka ko. Anong kinalaman ng kaibigan niya sa akin? Sheez! Thinking too much!
