"No, you damn perv, I am not going to send you pictures of the moms at the reunion." The man sighed heavily, switching his phone to speaker so he can hear whatever his perverted foster father had to say.
A heavy breath of air filled the other end, "Come on, kid. I just want to see how well they aged."
"The answer is still no."
He ran his hand through his fresh-cut blonde hair. At least this way he can maintain it and look at least respectable. While he did love his longer blonde spikes (since it made him look more like his father), cutting it gave him a new form of respect. Those who have been loyal to his father already gave their respects to him since he was a mere boy. The newer ones, however, are a different story.
He has caught talking about him in the break rooms, saying how he is the reason the stocks in the company are tanking. Him, being only twenty-five, with a weak degree in business is the sole reason investors keep pulling out of deals.
The man knew.
He knew he had big shoes to fill when he took over. His foster father had stepped in as interim CEO so he could finish school and handed him the reins.
He has plans.
And these plans will work.
"Naruto. You still there, boy?"
Naruto blinked once.
He was still standing in front of his standing mirror, in the middle of buttoning up his sleeveless vest in his hotel room in his home town.
A town he hasn't been in...since high school graduation.
"Y-yeah." Naruto cleared his throat. "I'm still here, y'know."
"So you are nervous about this high school reunion, huh?" his foster father chuckled.
"No! Of course not." the CEO responded, almost a little too fast to sound confident. "I just don't understand why you're making me go. I still have so much to do at the company."
"Things that I can handle. Don't worry too much about it. You just focus on catching up, getting drunk and showing off that beautiful fiancée of yours off to your old friends."
At the mention of his fiancée, Naruto smiled to himself. He stole a glance over at the bathroom door where a hair dryer was echoing against the pristine walls. He was glad to have her by his side tonight at his 7 year high school reunion.
His school thought it'd be cool to be different from all other high schools and have a reunion at 7 years instead of the usual 10. Naruto never understood why but when he got the little invitation in the mail two months ago, he only sighed and was quick to decline.
If it weren't for his fiancée, he probably wouldn't have come.
The transfer into his CEO position has been tiring and stressful. He didn't want to worry about trying to prove himself or his worth to people he used to see in the hallways when they were all stuck at the age where hormones ruled their lives. Sure, he had a few friends who he wouldn't mind linking up with again.
But he could've just sent them a check in email in three years and call it good.
"Alright, well I gotta get going, kid." His foster father intruded his thoughts yet again. "If you can't get any pics of the moms at the party, then just bring home memories of good times, alright? Stop sulking around already."
"Okay, okay, Jiraiya." Naruto finally chuckled, buttoning the last one just enough to expose his orange tie. "I'll see you in a couple days."
The CEO ended the call and dropped his phone on the hotel bed once more.
