Alpha Suppasit seemed to feel the tension in the room, and he was quick to attempt to alleviate it, "I'm sure he's just fine. Have you tried calling him?"
Gulf nodded, fingers twisting in his lap before he reached for his phone, dialing the last number in his phone, one he knew by heart at this point.
The phone rang once, twice before the line connected and he sucked in a huge breath, "paaka?" he asked tentatively.
Loud background noise filtered through the connection and Gulf could barely hear as Mew responded.
"What? Mew, I can't hear you!"
The background noise quieted for a second, "I'll be right there babais, I'm almost home."
The phone hung up and Gulf glanced up in confusion, that was weird.
A smug look covered Dao's expression, "the family is one of the hosts for the soiree this time. He must not have told you. He's been with Sin and Zan all day."
Anger churned in his veins, but he smiled politely at Mew's mother, "I'm sure he's eager to return home to me then."
Just the thought of Sin Sutipak made his blood boil, not only for himself and losing his job, but for Zan who endured the man at his worst.
"Well, who knows. With all the omega pheromones surrounding him now, this dinner might be more of a bother than a reprieve."
Gulf's glare targeted Dao, "what are you implying?"
"Oh, nothing. Just that we are all slaves to our nature."
"Dao, this is enough. You are blatantly disrespecting this boy and insinuating infidelity of our son... what is wrong with you?"
"Nothing is wrong! Why can't you all see beneath this omega? You are all being fooled! He only wants our money!"
"And yet the street rat contains more poise and class than you ever have", Grandmother spoke up as she sneered at her daughter-in-law.
Dao gasped, offended, "how dare you!"
"How dare I!" Grandmother mocked as she turned to her son, "this is getting out of hand dear son of mine. This needs to be addressed, you have let her go on for too long."
Alpha Suppasit sighed.
"What is that supposed to mean Chet? You will sit by as your mother slanders me?" Dao responded with outrage.
The temperature suddenly dropped as fierce alpha pheromones filled the room to bursting and Grandmother's tiny frame stood from the chair, her hands landing on the table with a deep thud, "I believe you forget your place girl and who was alpha of this family before your husband."
Grandmother's voice had gone deep and raspy, her eyes filled with fire.
"Mae..." Dao replied meekly as she flinched from the aggressive pheromones.
"That's Alpha Isla Jongcheveevat to you, girl."
Dao's head dropped in a submissive stance.
Grandmother dropped back to her seat and reigned in her pheromones as the door swung open and Mew slid into the room. He looked around in concern before dashing to Gulf, "are you okay kosdyr?"
Gulf jerked his hand from Mew's grasp, "we'll talk later" he bit out before gesturing towards Mew's chair, "just sit."
The room went eerily quiet as the server began to bring the food out now that the alpha had arrived, and an awkward tension bubbled up into the room.
